Para discutir os cuidados às pessoas com doença falciforme, a equipe multiprofissional do ambulatório da Hemoba reúne-se com os pacientes no dia 19/10 (segunda-feira), das 9 às 12h, no auditório da Fundação, em Salvador. A programação celebrará o Dia Nacional de Luta pelos Direitos das Pessoas com Doenças Falciformes, comemorado em 27/10. A data foi instituída pela Lei nº 12.104/2009 e tem como objetivo incentivar ações de esclarecimento, educação, informação e intensificação do diagnóstico da doença falciforme.
A Hemoba é referência no atendimento a pacientes com doença falciforme, acompanhando cerca de cinco mil pessoas na capital, além de ser responsável pela assistência transfusional e farmacêutica com a dispensação de medicamentos. Esta patologia genética e hereditária caracteriza-se por uma alteração nos glóbulos vermelhos que adquirem o aspecto de uma foice (falciforme), dificultando a passagem do sangue pelos vasos sanguíneos. A detecção é feita através do exame eletroforese de hemoglobina, como o teste do pezinho, realizado gratuitamente antes do bebê receber alta da maternidade.
Segundo dados do Ministério da Saúde, a Bahia tem a maior incidência da doença falciforme no Brasil. De cada 650 nascidos vivos no estado, um possui a enfermidade, enquanto a média nacional é de um bebê a cada 1.000 nascimentos. Estima-se que no país há cerca de 60 mil pessoas atingidas, destas vivem na Bahia cerca de 10.000. Por ser de origem africana, a doença é mais prevalecente (mas não exclusiva) em pardos e negros.
Sintomas – As principais manifestações da doença falciforme são anemia hemolítica crônica (destruição de glóbulos vermelhos causada pelos próprios anticorpos) e episódios dolorosos recorrentes. Infecções, sequestro esplênico (complicação aguda decorrente da retenção das hemácias no interior do baço), síndrome torácica aguda (lesão pulmonar) e acidente vascular cerebral são sintomas que podem levar à morte em todas faixas etárias.
Hemoba no CAB – A Hemoba estará na Assembleia Legislativa da Bahia (ALBA), nos dias 18 e 19/10, das 9h às 12h e das 13h às 16h, para o cadastro de medula óssea. O transplante de medula óssea pode ser indicado como alternativa de tratamento para alguns casos de anemia falciforme. Para se tornar um doador é necessário ter entre 18 e 35 anos incompletos, estar em bom estado geral de saúde, não possuir doença infecciosa ou incapacitante e não apresentar doença neoplásica (câncer), hematológica (do sangue) ou do sistema imunológico.
