Escolas e organizações da sociedade civil da Bahia recebem cerca de 200 mil livros de literatura infantil do Leia com uma criança.

As secretarias municipais de Educação e OSC’s (organizações da sociedade civil) da Bahia receberam 99.011 kits literários do programa Leia com uma criança, do Itaú Social, totalizando 198.022 livros. As obras valorizam histórias, pessoas e culturas negras e indígenas.
Cada conjunto literário é composto pelos livros “De passinho em passinho: um livro para sonhar e dançar”, da Editora Companhia das Letrinhas, com texto de Otávio Júnior e ilustrações de Bruna Lubambo; e “A pescaria do curumim e outros poemas indígenas”, da Editora Panda Books, com texto de Tiago Hakiy e ilustrações de Taísa Borges.
As inscrições ocorreram entre os meses de agosto e setembro. As secretarias de Educação e OSC’s puderam solicitar um kit para cada criança matriculada ou atendida.
Pelo Brasil, a edição de 2022 da campanha alcançou mais de 1 milhão de crianças em 659 municípios, sendo que 74% deles (487) estão entre os mais vulneráveis do país, considerando indicadores relacionados à qualidade da educação, demografia e contexto social. Além disso, foram distribuídos 8.964 exemplares em formato acessível ou braile.
“Buscamos democratizar o acesso à leitura de qualidade para todas as crianças, especialmente as que residem em localidades mais vulneráveis. Por isso, fizemos uma força-tarefa para que pudéssemos chegar até esses municípios e levar a literatura infantil, reforçando o potencial do livro como agente transformador, capaz de proporcionar diálogos inspiradores entre adultos e crianças”, explica a gerente de Fomento do Itaú Social, Camila Feldberg.

Iniciado em 2010, o “Leia com uma criança” – antigo Leia para uma criança – já distribuiu cerca de 63,5 milhões de livros físicos gratuitamente. Foi o primeiro programa a receber o Prêmio Jabuti na categoria Fomento à Leitura. Seu objetivo é incentivar a leitura do adulto para e com a criança como uma oportunidade de fortalecimento dos vínculos e da participação ativa na educação desde a primeira infância
