A triagem neonatal auditiva, conhecida popularmente como “teste da orelhinha” é um dos exames preventivos fundamentais nos primeiros dias de vida da criança. Essencial para a avaliar a audição de recém-nascidos e identificar precocemente possíveis problemas auditivos, o teste no Brasil é obrigatório e pode ser realizado gratuitamente pelo SUS.

Rápido, indolor e sem contraindicações, o exame consiste na introdução de um fone no canal auditivo da criança e a realização de um estímulo sonoro. O aparelho faz a leitura da resposta auditiva para identificar as possíveis alterações, como explica o otorrinolaringologista Jefferson Pitelli.

“O Sistema Nervoso Central apresenta grande plasticidade quando precocemente estimulado, principalmente até os dois meses de idade, permitindo o aumento de conexões nervosas e possibilitando melhores resultados na reabilitação auditiva e desenvolvimento de linguagem de crianças acometidas pela deficiência auditiva”.

Como é uma medida preventiva, a partir do exame é possível desenvolver ações adequadas para garantir um desenvolvimento saudável e uma melhor qualidade de vida para a criança, como destaca Pitelli.

“A capacidade auditiva também influencia nas habilidades de comunicação e linguagem ao longo da vida. Dessa forma, alterações auditivas podem comprometer essas habilidades e, consequentemente, o aprendizado”.  

O especialista lembra ainda que, caso algo seja detectado no teste da orelhinha, não necessariamente significa que há problemas auditivos. “Outros exames de maior complexidade terão de fazer parte da investigação diagnóstica”, recomenda.

Há cerca de dois anos, a filha da coordenadora de comunicação Nara Lima fez o teste ainda na maternidade. “O teste foi super-rápido e sabemos da importância que ele tem. Todos os resultados foram conforme o previsto pelo protocolo. Ficamos felizes que não precisamos refazê-lo depois de algum tempo”, diz.

De acordo com dados da última Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde realizada pelo IBGE, 1,1% da população brasileira é composta por pessoas que são surdas. Esse número equivale a mais de 2,3 milhões de cidadãos que possuem surdez profunda.

Segundo o relatório mundial sobre audição da Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS), 1 em cada 4 pessoas terão problemas auditivos até 2050. Essa parcela corresponde a 2,5 bilhões de pessoas em todo o mundo. Deste número, pelo menos 700 milhões precisarão de acesso a cuidados auditivos, a menos que sejam tomadas medidas.

Triagem neonatal

Além do teste da orelhinha, todo bebê que nasce no Brasil tem o direito de fazer mais quatro testes. Na triagem neonatal são realizados testes preventivos que investigam diversas doenças. Os principais são exames são:

  • Teste do olhinho: também chamado de pesquisa do reflexo do olho vermelho, serve para identificar doenças como glaucoma, tumores intraoculares e catarata infantil. Deve ser feito na maternidade antes da alta. 
  • Teste do coraçãozinho: é a oximetria de pulso, medição do nível de oxigênio do sangue com o objetivo de indicar se o bebê apresenta alguma doença cardíaca grave. 
  • Teste da linguinha: mais recente, é realizado para identificar se há alteração em uma membrana na língua, chamada frênulo. Essa membrana causa o que chamamos popularmente de língua presa — e pode gerar problemas de sucção e mastigação. Quanto mais precoce for identificado, melhor para o bebê, para não interferir na amamentação. 
  •  O teste do pezinho: é um teste muito conhecido que identifica o tipo sanguíneo da criança, verifica se há hemoglobinopatias e fibrose cística. São doenças que, quando tratadas rapidamente, possuem um desfecho mais favorável.
