Durante o Forecasting Healthy Futures Global Summit (FHF Summit), evento global sobre saúde e clima que termina hoje (10/04) no Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Gadelha, coordenador da “Estratégia Fiocruz para a Agenda 2030” (EFA 2030), destacou os desafios crescentes impostos pelas mudanças climáticas à saúde humana e os caminhos para enfrentar essa crise planetária.
Gadelha abordou a necessidade de compreender as transformações ambientais no contexto da crise planetária global. “Quando pensamos em mudanças climáticas, precisamos entender que isso não é um problema isolado. É preciso conectar a questão com a crise planetária como um todo. Estamos falando de grandes acordos multilaterais, como a Agenda 2030, o Acordo de Paris e o Marco de Sendai, que se relacionam de maneira direta com a saúde e o bem-estar das populações ao redor do mundo”, afirmou.
De acordo com Paulo Gadelha, as principais questões em debate devem envolver a implementação e o financiamento de soluções para as mudanças climáticas, sem deixar de lado o desenvolvimento sustentável de forma ampla. Ele ressaltou que as crises ambientais, sociais e econômicas têm uma origem comum: o modelo desigual de desenvolvimento. “As determinações dessas crises surgiram da mesma raiz, que é o modelo desigual de desenvolvimento e a maneira como ele é compartilhado, o que produz desigualdade, especialmente com as populações mais vulneráveis”.
Vinculada ao Ministério da Saúde, a Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz) é uma das instituições de referência no Brasil e no mundo, dedicada à pesquisa, ao desenvolvimento tecnológico e à promoção da saúde pública. Em 2017 foi instituída a “Estratégia Fiocruz para a Agenda 2030” (EFA 2030), que incorpora o documento das Nações Unidas ao desenvolvimento estratégico e ao programa de trabalho da Fiocruz em médio e longo prazos.
Para o ex-presidente da Fiocruz, a Agenda 2030, com seus Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS), representa a abordagem mais abrangente para conectar as questões econômicas, sociais e ambientais. Ele explicou que a agenda oferece um quadro articulado para enfrentar os principais desafios da crise climática, por isso é essencial integrá-la com o Acordo de Paris, pois ambos abordam a necessidade urgente de mitigar e adaptar as sociedades aos efeitos das mudanças climáticas. Por fim, Gadelha destacou que a mudança climática foi reconhecida como a maior ameaça global à saúde humana, conforme declarado pelo diretor-geral da Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS), Tedros Adhanom.
O Forecasting Healthy Futures Global Summit reúne líderes mundiais e brasileiros de diversos setores para catalisar ideias e soluções voltadas à mitigação do impacto do aquecimento global na saúde humana. A conferência está alinhada com o país anfitrião da COP30, para garantir que as propostas dos participantes possam influenciar diretamente a agenda de ação e os elementos de negociação da cúpula do clima, que ocorrerá em Belém(PA), em novembro deste ano.
