Na noite da última terça-feira (19), Vitória da Conquista viveu momento de grande relevância cultural e histórica. Em uma cerimônia que contou com a presença de autoridades, artistas, pesquisadores e populares, a Câmara Municipal oficializou o tombamento do seu prédio centenário, reabriu o Memorial Manoel Fernandes Santos e inaugurou uma exposição do renomado artista local Silvio Jessé.
Construído em 1910, o edifício teve sua origem como residência do Coronel Manoel Fernandes dos Santos Silva, conhecido como Maneca Santos, figura de destaque na economia local no início do século XX. Ao longo dos anos, o imóvel abrigou o Hotel Central, o Fórum Municipal e a Justiça do Trabalho, até ser, na década de 1960, a sede da Câmara de Vereadores.
Transformado em Memorial Manoel Fernandes Santos, o espaço consolidou-se como um símbolo da memória política e institucional de Vitória da Conquista.
Durante o evento, o Memorial, agora reaberto ao público, passou a exibir documentos, fotografias e objetos que narram a história política da cidade, reforçando seu papel como guardião da trajetória local.
O ato de tombamento, realizado no mês em que o município comemora 185 anos de emancipação política e administrativa, reforça o compromisso com a preservação do patrimônio. Ele explicou que o imóvel passou por avaliação técnica do Núcleo de Preservação do Patrimônio Histórico, Artístico e Cultural do Município e recebeu Parecer favorável do Conselho Municipal de Cultura. Com o Decreto em vigor, ressaltou Fábio Sena, qualquer intervenção no edifício deverá obedecer às normas estabelecidas, assegurando a preservação de suas características arquitetônicas originais.
Vereador Fernando – Jacaré – Vasconcelos Silva (PT), ex-presidente da Câmara Municipal, ressaltou em sua intervenção que o tombamento é fruto de um esforço coletivo e que o espaço deve servir como instrumento de valorização cultural, promovendo oportunidades tanto para artistas locais quanto para moradores da zona rural.
