O cinema brasileiro fez história na noite de hoje (3) na 97ª edição do Oscar, em Los Angeles, nos Estados Unidos. Ainda Estou Aqui, de Walter Salles, foi o grande vencedor na categoria de melhor filme internacional. Uma conquista inédita para o cinema brasileiro. 
O filme brasileiro superou Emilia Pérez (França), A Semente do Fruto Sagrado (Alemanha), A Garota da Agulha (Dinamarca) e Flow (Letônia).
Walter Salles dedicou a conquista para Eunice Paiva, esposa do ex-deputado Rubens Paiva desaparecido na ditadura, cuja busca em saber o destino do marido norteou o roteiro do filme. Em seu discurso de agradecimento, o cineasta brasileiro também ressaltou os trabalhos de Fernanda Torres, e sua mãe, Fernanda Montenegro.
Indicado também para a estatueta de melhor filme, Ainda Estou Aqui perdeu para Anora, maior vencedor da festa com cinco estatuetas no total.
Fernanda Torres, indicada ao prêmio de melhor atriz, não levou a estatueta, que acabou nas mãos de Mikey Madison, de Anora. Mesmo assim Fernanda Torres entra na história do cinema repetindo sua mãe, Fernanda Montenegro, que foi indicada na edição de 1999 do Oscar como melhor atriz, mas a laureada foi a estadunidense Gwyneth Paltrow.
Clima de Copa do Mundo
A coincidência das datas da maior premiação do cinema com o carnaval brasileiro acabou em clima de torcida da Copa do Mundo. Máscaras de Fernanda Torres e de Selton Mello (intérprete de Rubens Paiva), fantasias da estatueta dourada do prêmio, boneco gigante de Olinda, entre outras referências ao Oscar, estiveram presentes em desfiles e blocos carnavalescos pelo país inteiro.
Com suas indicações, o filme de Walter Salles sobre o desaparecimento do deputado Rubens Paiva (1929-1971) e a saga de sua esposa Eunice Paiva (1929-2018) já chegou vitorioso à festa da indústria cinematográfica.
Especialistas consultados pela Agência Brasil disseram que, entre as qualidades do filme, estão a capacidade de abordar o passado de uma forma diferente e a maneira como a obra conseguiu dialogar com os tempos atuais.
O livro autobiográfico que nomeia o filme, de autoria de Marcelo Rubens Paiva, filho de Rubens e Eunice, foi para o topo das listas dos mais vendidos. O próprio caso Rubens Paiva ganhou novos desdobramentos recentemente. Por determinação da Justiça, em janeiro deste ano a certidão de óbito do ex-deputado foi corrigida. Na versão original do documento, ele foi tido como “desaparecido político”. Na nova redação, consta agora que sua morte foi violenta, causada pelo Estado brasileiro.
Além disso, o Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) decidiu analisar se a Lei da Anistia, adotada com o fim do regime de exceção, se aplica ou não a crimes de sequestro e cárcere privado cometidos na época da ditadura militar brasileira.
