Nos dias 14 e 15 de fevereiro, acontecerá o I Seminário Afropédia, o evento será realizado no Arquivo Público do Estado da Bahia, equipamento da Fundação Pedro Calmon (FPC/Secult-BA). O Seminário busca fortalecer a representatividade da cultura negra e combater o racismo por meio da produção de conteúdos qualificados para a Wikipédia. Os interessados devem se inscrever por meio de formulário online. (Inscrições)
O projeto nasce como resposta à ausência de fontes nacionais e periféricas nas referências da Wikipédia Lusófona, propondo a criação de artigos sobre lugares, biografias, organizações e celebrações afrodescendentes, escritos por representantes de movimentos sociais e pesquisadores. A iniciativa visa sensibilizar e conscientizar a sociedade, utilizando a internet como ferramenta poderosa para disseminar informações que quebrem preconceitos e promovam a empatia, especialmente entre os jovens, principal público das plataformas digitais.
O evento de lançamento contará com a participação de Universidades, Instituições de Ensino, Organizações da Sociedade Civil e representantes governamentais. A Afropédia estará disponível online, com o objetivo de tornar o conhecimento afrodescendente mais acessível e visível globalmente.
O projeto Afropédia: Conexões Ancestrais Ameaças e potencialidades na Internet para a Democracia, Direitos Humanos e o Enfrentamento ao Racismo, é uma iniciativa do Centro Palmares em parceria com a Fundação Euclides da Cunha e o Ministério da Igualdade Racial, com apoio financeiro do Governo da Bahia, por meio da Secretaria de Cultura da Bahia, através das unidades vinculadas Fundação Pedro Calmon e Fundação Cultural da Bahia.
