O governador da Bahia, Jerônimo Rodrigues Souza (PT), sancionou nesta quinta-feira (8) a Lei Estadual nº 23.596/2019, que veta a atribuição de nomes de pessoas ligadas à Ditadura Militar (1964-1985) a prédios, obras, equipamentos públicos e eventos oficiais no Estado. A proposta, de autoria do deputado estadual Robinson Santos Almeida (PT), foi aprovada pela Assembleia Legislativa em 22 de dezembro de 2025.
A sanção ocorreu em uma data simbólica, que marca o aniversário da invasão e depredação dos prédios dos Três Poderes, em Brasília, culminância de uma séria de atos golpistas antidemocráticos que tinha por objetivo estabelecer o caos e abrir caminho para a ruptura das Instituições.
A Lei sancionada pelo governador estabelece que nenhum equipamento público estadual poderá receber nomes de pessoas que participaram ou apoiaram o Regime Militar que vigeu entre 1964 e 1985. Veda, ainda, a realização de eventos que promovam ou façam apologia à Ditadura e impede o repasse de verbas para iniciativas que tenham esse objetivo. A Lei também determina que sejam usados registros oficiais das Comissões Nacional e Estadual da Verdade para identificar pessoas ligadas ao Regime Militar (1964/1985) e, além de impedir novas homenagens, prevê a elaboração de relatórios para identificar denominações já existentes que se enquadrem nas restrições.
A aprovação pela Assembleia Legislativa do Estado e sanção pelo governador da Lei Estadual nº 23.596/2019 insere a Bahia em um movimento de resgate da memória histórica e valorização dos direitos humanos, alinhando-se às recomendações das Comissões da Verdade Nacional e Estadual que investigaram crimes cometidos durante o Regime Militar.
Segundo o governador, o nome de um equipamento público carrega forte valor simbólico e não pode remeter a retrocessos históricos ou ataques à democracia”, afirmou o governador ao destacar o caráter formador desses espaços.
Com a sanção, a Bahia passa a contar com um marco legal voltado à preservação da memória democrática e ao fortalecimento dos valores de cidadania. A iniciativa insere o estado em um movimento de resgate histórico e valorização dos direitos humanos, em consonância com as recomendações das Comissões da Verdade que investigaram crimes cometidos durante o regime militar.
