De quatro em quatro anos, uma vinheta fica na cabeça de todos os brasileiros. Geralmente anunciada a cada gol da seleção nas Copas do Mundo, ou em grandes jogadas que enchem o peito de emoção, a vinheta “Brasil-sil-sil” foi interpretada por Edmo Zarife, radialista da Rádio Globo e foi feita para a Copa do Mundo de 1970. O locutor faleceu em 1999, jovem, aos 59 anos, em Niterói (RJ) por problemas cardíacos. Apesar disso, sua voz ficou imortalizada na vinheta que foi gravada há 48 anos atrás, completando quase meio século nas comemorações junto aos brasileiros.

A vinheta acompanhou a jornada do tri da seleção brasileira. Foram 23 gols acompanhados de “Brasil-sil-sil” em solos mexicanos. Em 1994 foi nos Estados Unidos, o Brasil conquistou o tetracampeonato com a brilhante presença de Bebeto e Romário marcando pela seleção. Dessa vez, a final foi suada, a única final de Copa do Mundo que terminou no 0 a 0 contra a Itália, mas que por fim deu a vitória para o Brasil por 3 a 2 na decisão de pênaltis. Já em 2002, numa Copa com sede dividida entre Japão e Coreia do Sul, a vinheta acompanhou a primeira e única seleção até o momento a conquistar o pentacampeonato. Nessa Copa, o Brasil ganhou todos os jogos, igual em 1970, com a estreia vinheta de Edmo Zarife.

A vinheta foi gravada a pedido de Waldir Amaral e Mário Luiz e foi ao ar somente na fase das eliminatórias. Foram duas horas no estúdio testando diversos gritos de guerra para animar a torcida. Mas foi um simples e empolgante Brasil-sil-sil que se imortalizou nos ouvidos brasileiros, agora pela 13ª Copa do Mundo.
