Porto Seguro foi o palco da Primeira Etapa do Campeonato Baiano de Pickleball, e os atletas de Brumado que participam da competição não decepcionaram. Embora a prática dessa modalidade esportiva ainda esteja em seus estágios iniciais na cidade, a equipe que representou Brumado te um desempenho excepcional, conquistando um total de seis medalhas [3 de Ouro, uma de Prata e duas de Bronze], mostrando a força e o talento que a cidade possui no esporte.

As três medalhas de Ouro foram conquistadas na categoria Duplas Mistas Intermediárias, formada por Sofia Diniz e Paulo Esdras, que mostraram um jogo impecável, garantindo o primeiro lugar com habilidade e sinergia.

Na categoria Iniciante, Fernanda Costa e Lúcio Segundo também brilharam, levando a medalha de Ouro com uma performance destacada. Além disso, Fernanda Costa se destacou novamente ao conquistar o Ouro na categoria Duplas Femininas Iniciantes, na disputa do Troféu Rainha da Quadra Iniciante, mostrando sua versatilidade e talento no esporte.
Medalha de Prata
A equipe ainda garantiu uma medalha de Prata na categoria de Duplas Masculinas Intermediárias Plus. A parceria de Ney Dkato e Lúcio Segundo apresentou um jogo competitivo, mas, apesar do esforço, ficou com o segundo lugar, mostrando que a luta pela vitória foi acirrada.
Medalhas de Bronze
Brumado também não saiu de mãos vazias nas categorias intermediárias, conquistando duas medalhas de Bronze. A primeira veio nas Duplas Masculinas Intermediárias Plus, onde Artur Figueiredo e Paulo Esdras mostraram um desempenho forte, mas não conseguiram superar os adversários. A segunda medalha de Bronze foi conquistada pela dupla Lúcio Segundo e Ney Dkato nas Duplas Masculinas Intermediárias, reforçando a consistência da equipe.

O desempenho da equipe de Brumado na Primeira Etapa do Campeonato Baiano de Pickleball foi, sem dúvida, um reflexo do trabalho árduo e da dedicação de seus atletas. Com um total de seis medalhas, incluindo três Ouros, a a equipe brumadense se destacou no cenário do Pickleball baiano, prometendo ainda mais conquistas nas próximas etapas. Conheça o Pickleball
O Pickleball é o esporte que mais cresce nos Estados Unidos e já conquistou entusiastas no Brasil, chegando até Brumado e revelando novos talentos, além de ganhar destaque no Estado.
Muitos o descrevem como uma combinação de Tênis e Pingue-Pongue. Para jogar, você precisa apenas de uma bola leve, raquetes que se assemelham às de Tênis de Mesa, porém maiores, e uma quadra que lembra a de Tênis, mas em menor escala (13,41m x 6,10m). O objetivo principal é o mesmo de outros esportes com raquete: passar a bola por cima da rede e fazer com que o adversário não consiga devolvê-la.
Como se joga?
O Pickleball pode ser jogado em partidas simples (um contra um) ou em duplas (dois contra dois) e pode ser praticado em espaços abertos ou fechados. Uma das regras mais importantes — que distingue o Pickleball de esportes semelhantes — é a zona de não voleio, conhecida nos EUA como “kitchen” (Cozinha, em português). Nessa área, próxima à rede, os jogadores não podem bater na bola enquanto estiverem dentro dela; é necessário estar atrás da linha. Caso contrário, o juiz pode marcar falta. Se a bola tocar a “Cozinha”, o jogador pode devolvê-la pisando na área.
Outras regras essenciais:
- Saque: O sacador deve fazer com que a bola passe pela rede e atinja o solo adversário na diagonal.
- Pontuação: O vencedor é o jogador/dupla que acumular 11 pontos, com uma diferença de pelo menos dois pontos.
História do esporte
Embora tenha alcançado grande popularidade recentemente, o Pickleball não é um esporte novo. Ele foi criado em 1965, nos Estados Unidos, na casa do congressista Joel Pritchard, próximo a Seattle. Junto com seus amigos Bill Bell e Barney McCallum, eles desenvolveram o jogo e estabeleceram as regras, inspirando-se no Badminton. O objetivo era criar um esporte que pudesse ser jogado em família, conforme a organização USA Pickleball, o que levou à sua popularização, especialmente entre comunidades de aposentados, devido ao seu caráter social e benefícios para a saúde.
Crescimento no Brasil
O sucesso do Pickleball se espalhou além dos Estados Unidos. No Brasil, existe uma Associação Brasileira de Pickleball, fundada em 2018 em Governador Valadares (MG), que organiza torneios e promove o crescimento do esporte.
Pickleball em Brumado
Em Brumado, a modalidade chegou em 2022, trazida pela atleta Alessandra Câmara, que reside nos Estados Unidos e é irmã de uma moradora local. Desde então, o Pickleball vem conquistando novos adeptos na cidade.
