O câncer de próstata permanece como o tumor maligno mais frequente entre homens no Brasil, excluídos os cânceres de pele não melanoma. Segundo o urologista Daniel Angotti Akel, da Unimed Araxá, o cenário reforça a necessidade de ampliar o acesso à informação e incentivar a realização da avaliação periódica anual, sobretudo a partir dos 50 anos, conforme o perfil de risco.
Dr. Daniel explica que a doença costuma evoluir de forma silenciosa, o que torna o diagnóstico precoce decisivo para o sucesso do tratamento. “Grande parte dos tumores de próstata é assintomática no início, e isso faz com que muitos pacientes só procurem ajuda quando a doença está em outros graus de evolução. Por se tratar de um órgão do aparelho urinário, os sintomas, quando ocorrem, são decorrentes de alterações na micção, podendo destacar esforço miccional, afilamento do jato urinário, levantar à noite para urinar, ir repetidas vezes ao banheiro, sensação de micção incompleta, dor ao urinar, presença de sangue na urina, infecções urinárias e dor pélvica”, destaca. De acordo com ele, quando identificada precocemente, a taxa de cura se aproxima de 90%.
Como forma de diagnosticar e identificar doenças prostáticas em sua fase inicial, a orientação é que todo homem a partir dos 50 anos procure anualmente o médico para consulta e exames clínicos. “Caso na família do indivíduo tenha histórico de câncer de próstata ou o indivíduo seja de raça negra, devemos começar o seguimento a partir dos 45 anos de idade”, complementa.
Quando diagnosticado em sua fase inicial e dependendo das condições clínicas do paciente, a cirurgia torna-se um método eficaz no controle da doença. Várias técnicas cirúrgicas podem ser oferecidas aos pacientes, trazendo ótimo controle do câncer e baixo índice de incontinência urinária e impotência sexual. Em casos de doença avançada, podem ser utilizados tratamentos que bloqueiam a ação do câncer, porém sem resposta curativa completa.
O médico ressalta a importância da consulta clínica anual, da realização de exames periódicos, de abandonar o tabagismo, evitar o uso de álcool, praticar exercícios físicos, controlar o peso, evitar gordura animal e alimentos ultraprocessados e manter dieta rica em frutas, verduras e legumes. “Essas práticas trazem benefícios não só para a saúde da próstata, como ajudam a prevenir e controlar doenças crônicas, como hipertensão, diabetes, outros tipos de câncer e doenças cardiovasculares”, finaliza.
