Por Ascom/Codevasf
Companhia de Desenvolvimento dos Vales do São Francisco e do Parnaíba (Codevasf) está transformando a realidade de produtores rurais do município de Santana, na Bahia, com a entrega de estufas agrícolas para o cultivo de hortaliças. O contrato, que prevê a instalação de 10 unidades, já beneficiou agricultores familiares da comunidade de Brejinhos com a entrega de seis estufas, com um investimento de R$ 529 mil ao final do projeto, que ainda prevê a instalação de mais quatro unidades em outros municípios.
As estufas são estruturas fundamentais para o desenvolvimento da agricultura familiar na região. Elas garantem a proteção das hortaliças contra pragas e doenças, melhoram a qualidade dos produtos e asseguram a manutenção da produção mesmo em condições climáticas adversas. Com isso, os agricultores têm a oportunidade de aumentar a rentabilidade e a sustentabilidade de suas atividades, fortalecendo a economia local e garantindo segurança alimentar para suas famílias.
De acordo com a Codevasf, a iniciativa faz parte de um conjunto de ações voltadas para o fortalecimento da agricultura familiar na região do Vale do São Francisco. “As estufas serão um instrumento de grande benefício para a população local não só pela melhoria da qualidade dos produtos, mas também pela qualidade da produção, que é menos afetada por motivos climáticos, como chuvas extremas ou secas severas. Por fim, eles terão um reforço na sua renda familiar que irá ajudar a manutenção do homem do campo e aumentar a prosperidade em toda região”, destacou Jhonathan Carvalho, engenheiro agrônomo lotado na 2ª Superintendência Regional da Codevasf.
Os produtores beneficiados com as estufas já comemoram os primeiros resultados. “Produzimos dentro da estufa as folhosas como couve-flor, brócolis, repolho, algumas raízes e tubérculos, como cenoura e beterraba. A estufa entrou na nossa vida no momento em que a gente mais precisava. Sempre buscamos a estufa para melhoria da qualificação dos produtos e da nossa remuneração, que hoje é melhor. Antes a gente perdia dinheiro, agora nós ganhamos, como por exemplo no período de chuvas, que é o período de maior escassez de certas verduras e legumes que não vão muito bem com o clima chuvoso”, afirmou a agricultora Marilene Santos da Silva.
A expectativa é de que, com a entrega das quatro unidades restantes, mais famílias sejam impactadas positivamente, consolidando Santana como um polo de produção de hortaliças na região. A Codevasf reforça seu compromisso com o desenvolvimento rural e com a geração de oportunidades para os agricultores familiares, contribuindo para o crescimento econômico e social do município.
A iniciativa é um exemplo de como investimentos em infraestrutura agrícola podem transformar vidas e impulsionar a agricultura familiar, garantindo mais qualidade, produtividade e renda para quem trabalha no campo.
