Os escritores de cordel, os “cordelistas”, usavam uma linguagem clara e acessível, frequentemente empregando rimas e estruturas métricas, o que tornava mais fácil a memorização e a performance por repentistas.
Com o tempo, o cordel se firmou como uma importante expressão cultural brasileira por preservar tradições e promover a identidade regional. Atualmente, continua a ser uma valiosa forma de arte e educação, utilizado em escolas em diferentes etapas de ensino.
Isso acontece porque o cordel pode ajudar na alfabetização de várias maneiras. Em primeiro lugar, ele utiliza uma linguagem simples, o que facilita a compreensão dos leitores iniciantes. Além disso, as rimas do cordel tornam a leitura mais cativante e divertida, despertando o interesse pela leitura, especialmente entre as crianças e os estudantes da Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA).
No Ensino Fundamental, os cordéis são uma ferramenta essencial para aprimorar a escrita por meio de projetos de leitura, recitação de poemas e saraus. Já na Educação Infantil, a proposta é garantir que as crianças tenham experiências significativas. Essas experiências devem envolver práticas discursivas de oralidade, leitura e escrita, além de análise e reflexão. As atividades devem levar em conta as interações e brincadeiras, eixos essenciais do currículo da educação infantil.
Outro aspecto importante dos benefícios do cordel na educação é que ele aborda temas do cotidiano e da cultura popular, ajudando os alunos a se identificarem com as histórias e personagens reais. Além disso, alguns cordéis podem ser recitados e trabalhados em conjunto com xilogravuras, transformando-se em histórias dramatizadas ou peças de teatro de fantoches.
Com a criação do Programa Leitura e Escrita na Educação Infantil (Pro-LEEI), visa-se implementar e promover a formação continuada de profissionais da educação infantil, fortalecendo o planejamento e a execução de práticas pedagógicas que desenvolvam a linguagem oral, a leitura e a escrita das crianças. O programa está integrado ao Compromisso Nacional Criança Alfabetizada (CNCA) e adota princípios como a valorização das especificidades da educação infantil, a integração entre as etapas da educação básica e a promoção da equidade educacional. Assim, a literatura de cordel se apresenta como um importante aliado nesse processo de inserção da leitura e da escrita.
Por isso, o cordel é uma ferramenta valiosa para estimular a criatividade e a expressão artística, incentivando os alunos a criar seus próprios textos e a explorar a literatura de maneira lúdica. É, portanto, um recurso educativo que enriquece o processo de alfabetização, como também valoriza a diversidade cultural, promove a equidade educacional e mobiliza repertórios das diversas regiões do nosso país, ajudando a superar desigualdades educacionais.
