O presidente da República, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), vetou o corte de quase R$ 1 bilhão no orçamento das Universidades e Institutos Federais, medida aprovada anteriormente pelo Congresso Nacional. A decisão recompõe os recursos destinados ao setor e foi destacada pelo deputado estadual José Raimundo Fontes (PT), Professor e ex-Reitor da Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia (Uesb), como fundamental para assegurar a qualidade da Educação Pública no país.
Segundo o parlamentar petista, a recomposição orçamentária garantirá o funcionamento das Instituições, o custeio das Universidades, o fortalecimento dos Institutos Federais e a retomada de Bolsas de Pesquisa. Para o deputado Zé Raimundo, os investimentos representam não apenas a manutenção do Ensino e da Ciência, mas também a ampliação de oportunidades para milhares de estudantes em todo o Brasil.
O deputado enfatizou ainda seu compromisso pessoal, alinhado aos Governos do presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva e do governador da Bahia, Jerônimo Rodrigues, de seguir trabalhando pelo fortalecimento da Educação Pública. Ele defendeu a continuidade do diálogo e da construção de políticas que assegurem maior acesso, permanência e qualidade para os estudantes brasileiros.
