Nesta quarta-feira (5), recebemos com profunda tristeza a notícia do falecimento de Elizabeth Ferreira Lopes, a companheira Beta, militante histórica do movimento negro e referência na luta por justiça social, igualdade racial e educação popular em Vitória da Conquista e em toda a Bahia.
Beta dedicou sua vida à transformação da realidade do povo negro, atuando com firmeza na Pastoral dos Negros e na construção de espaços de formação como o Cursinho Dandara dos Palmares, sempre comprometida com a emancipação e o empoderamento das novas gerações.
Tivemos a honra de dividir com Beta importantes ações voltadas à inclusão e valorização da juventude quilombola, entre elas a criação da Casa do Estudante Quilombola “Zumbi dos Palmares”, inaugurada em março de 2008, em Vitória da Conquista. Este espaço, fruto de uma parceria entre os Agentes de Pastoral Negros (APNs), a Prefeitura Municipal — à época sob a gestão do então prefeito Zé Raimundo —, o Governo do Estado e o nosso mandato parlamentar (Waldenor, então deputado estadual), contou também com a presença do saudoso companheiro Luís Alberto Silva Santos, à época secretário estadual de Promoção da Igualdade.
A Casa foi o primeiro equipamento do gênero no interior da Bahia, símbolo da luta por acesso à educação e dignidade para estudantes de comunidades quilombolas. A trajetória de Beta deixa marcas profundas e inspira todos nós a continuarmos sua caminhada por um Brasil mais justo, igualitário e solidário.
Manifestamos nossa solidariedade aos familiares, amigos e companheiros e companheiras de militância, que hoje sentem a partida dessa mulher extraordinária, cuja presença permanecerá viva na memória e nas lutas do povo negro.
Beta presente. Hoje e sempre.
