Quatro processos ainda em andamento podem aumentar a pena do médium

Nesta segunda-feira (10), a Justiça de Goiás proferiu condenação ao médium João Teixeira de Faria, conhecido como João de Deus, sentenciando-o a 99 anos de prisão pelos crimes de estupro de vulnerável e violação sexual mediante fraude.
As sentenças foram proferidas pelo juiz Marcos Boechat Lopes Filho e envolvem oito vítimas que relataram ter sofrido abusos entre 2010 e 2018 durante atendimentos espirituais na Casa Dom Inácio de Loyola, em Abadiânia, Goiás. Além da pena de prisão, João de Deus também foi condenado a pagar R$ 100 mil às vítimas por danos morais.
De acordo com o Tribunal de Justiça de Goiás, João Teixeira de Faria já havia sido condenado anteriormente a 370 anos de prisão. Ainda existem quatro processos em andamento que podem aumentar sua pena. Um desses processos, relacionado a denúncias ocorridas entre 2009 e 2011, teve as acusações arquivadas devido à prescrição dos crimes. Todas as decisões podem ser objeto de recurso.
Em 2019, o Ministério Público de Goiás (MP-GO) apresentou nove denúncias contra João de Deus, acusando-o de crimes como estupro de vulnerável e violação sexual. Segundo o MP, os crimes teriam ocorrido pelo menos desde 1990 e foram interrompidos em 2018, quando as primeiras denúncias vieram a público pela imprensa.
Em resposta às novas sentenças, o advogado Anderson Van Gualberto, representante de João de Deus, afirmou que a defesa ainda não foi notificada, mas pretende recorrer. Gualberto ressaltou que, caso essas novas sentenças sigam a mesma metodologia das anteriores, estarão sujeitas à revisão pelos tribunais superiores, pois não estariam em conformidade com a legislação penal. A defesa aguardará a notificação para apresentar o recurso.
