As estudantes Ana Clara Guimarães, Lavínia Viana e Erica Rayssa Junqueira, alunas do Colégio Estadual de Tempo Integral Antônio Batista, em Candiba, com orientação do professor Daniel Rocha, desenvolveram uma bala de romã que apresenta potencial terapêutico no combate a gripes e resfriados. O projeto destaca-se pela combinação de Inovação e Saúde, aproveitando as propriedades nutricionais da romã, que é rica em antioxidantes e possui propriedades anti-inflamatórias.
As balas são formuladas para serem não apenas saborosas, mas também funcionais, visando fortalecer o Sistema Imunológico e oferecer alívio dos sintomas típicos de gripes. Os estudantes realizaram pesquisas sobre os componentes da romã e como eles podem ser eficazes na prevenção e no tratamento de infecções respiratórias.
O projeto, segundo uma das estudantes participantes, Ana Clara Guimarães, uma epidemia de gripe na cidade. Segundo relato da estudante, ela e as colegas foram motivadas pelo aumento no número de casos naquela época. “O Hospital estava lotado por atendimentos relacionados a infecções virais e alergias na garganta. Para ajudar, decidimos criar um produto que pudesse aliviar os sintomas, utilizando uma receita caseira que tem sido transmitida por gerações em nossas famílias. A bala foi elaborada com o intuito de suavizar os sintomas de infecções bucofaríngeas e os desconfortos da gripe”, relatou Ana Clara.
De acordo com as jovens cientistas, que tiveram a Coorientação da Professora, Bióloga com Especialização em Biodiversidade do Semiárido Solimara Ramos Mendes, a bala possui outros componentes que, em conjunto, oferecem propriedades antibacterianas e anti-inflamatórias. “As cascas de romã são ricas em flavonoides e taninos, que constituem a base antioxidante do produto. Além disso, a ação antibacteriana é intensificada por ingredientes adicionais, como limão, suas cascas e mel”, explica Lavínia Viana.
O Projeto conta com o apoio da Secretaria de Estado da Educação da Bahia e passou por diversas fases de testes. “A bala foi avaliada em Placas de Petri (materiais de Laboratório fundamentais para o estudo da Microbiologia) com meio de Ágar, uma ferramenta de Laboratório utilizada para o cultivo e estudo de microrganismos. Realizamos testes para verificar tanto a ação anti-inflamatória quanto a antibacteriana. Após os experimentos em Laboratório, o produto foi utilizado em indivíduos com gripe e tosse seca, além de um teste específico para Amigdalite. Todos os resultados foram positivos: os sintomas de gripe e tosse melhoraram em cinco dias, enquanto a Amigdalite apresentou melhora em sete dias”, explica a estudante Erica Rayssa Junqueira.
Esse tipo de iniciativa é um exemplo de como a Ciência e a Educação podem se unir para criar soluções práticas e acessíveis que beneficiem a Saúde Pública. O Projeto desenvolvido pelas estudantes do Colégio Estadual de Tempo Integral Antônio Batista, em Candiba, pode abrir portas para novas pesquisas e desenvolvimento de produtos similares, contribuindo para a valorização de ingredientes naturais na indústria alimentícia e farmacêutica.
