No último dia 4, a cidade de Ituaçu sediou o 2º evento “Olericultura em Foco – Cultura do Alho: da escolha da semente ao mercado”, uma iniciativa que busca impulsionar a produção e a produtividade do setor na Bahia. A realização foi promovida pela Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia (Uesb), por meio do Grupo de Estudos na Cultura do Alho (GEA), do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Agronomia, em parceria com a Associação Nacional dos Produtores de Alho (Anapa). Apoiaram a realização do evento a Empresa Brasileira de de Pesquisas Agropecuária (Embrapa Hortaliças) e a Prefeitura Municipal de Ituaçu, através da Secretaria Municipal de Agricultura.
O objetivo principal do encontro, realizado no Auditório do Auditório do Colégio Estadual Albércio da Costa Brito, foi debater tendências do setor, incentivar o crescimento da cadeia produtiva da Olericultura na região e promover o desenvolvimento sustentável da cultura do alho, uma das mais tradicionais e promissoras na região da Chapada Diamantina. O evento reuniu a participação de representantes de quatro Estados da Federação e 27 municípios baianos – agricultores, pesquisadores, especialistas, acadêmicos e representantes de entidades do setor – buscando fortalecer o conhecimento técnico e promover a troca de experiências entre os participantes.
Durante a programação, foram abordados temas relacionados às melhores práticas de cultivo, seleção de sementes, manejo fitossanitário, inovação tecnológica e estratégias de mercado. Além disso, os participantes tiveram a oportunidade de discutir os desafios enfrentados pelos produtores locais e as possibilidades de expansão do cultivo, visando a agregar valor à produção e ampliar a competitividade no mercado nacional e internacional.
A iniciativa reforça o compromisso da Uesb e da Anapa em fomentar a Olericultura na Bahia, promovendo ações que contribuam para o desenvolvimento econômico e social da região, além de valorizar uma cultura que possui grande potencial de crescimento e geração de renda para os agricultores locais.
Este encontro demonstra o papel fundamental da pesquisa e da integração entre academia e setor produtivo para o fortalecimento da cadeia do alho na Bahia, consolidando a região como uma importante produtora de alimentos de qualidade e impulsionando o desenvolvimento sustentável da agricultura local.
