Especialista explica como se prevenir da doença que é sério problema de saúde no Brasil e no mundo

Julho é o mês dedicado à conscientização sobre as Hepatites Virais, infecções silenciosas que podem levar a complicações graves se não forem diagnosticadas a tempo. Causadas por diferentes tipos de Vírus (A, B, C, D e E), essas doenças representam sério problema de Saúde Pública em todo o mundo. De acordo com o Ministério da Saúde e a Organização Mundial da Saúde(OMS), o Brasil registra anualmente cerca de 45 mil novos casos de Hepatites Virais, sendo a Hepatite B a de mais prevalência, com aproximadamente 1,5 milhão de brasileiros infectados, com 35 mil novos casos por ano. Já a Hepatite C atinge cerca de 1 milhão de pessoas, com 20 mil novos diagnósticos anuais, e a Hepatite A, embora menos grave, apresenta 10 mil novos casos por ano, concentrados principalmente em regiões com saneamento precário.
Os grupos de maior risco incluem profissionais de Saúde, usuários de drogas, população LGBTQIA+ e pessoas com múltiplos parceiros sexuais. A região Norte do País apresenta os maiores índices de infecção, seguida pelo Nordeste. A vacinação continua sendo a estratégia mais eficaz de prevenção, com cobertura vacinal para Hepatites A e B próxima a 80% em crianças e adolescentes.
A Dra. Marilia Imthon, médica de família, explicou a importância da conscientização sobre o combate às hepatites para a Saúde Pública, uma vez que a doença é uma inflamação do fígado causada por diferentes fatores.
“O fígado é um órgão vital, responsável por uma verdadeira central de operações no nosso corpo. Ele filtra toxinas do sangue, armazena e distribui nutrientes e produz proteínas importantes – como as do sangue e as que ajudam a combater infecções –, além de ser essencial para a digestão de gorduras e o metabolismo de medicamentos e hormônios”, destaca a médica.
Ela explica também que, além das hepatites causadas por vírus, existem outras formas de inflamação do fígado: a hepatite alcoólica, provocada pelo consumo excessivo e regular de álcool, que prejudica as células do fígado e pode levar à cirrose e a Doença Hepática Gordurosa Metabólica (MASLD), antiga esteatose hepática, que é associada ao acúmulo de gordura no fígado e geralmente relacionada ao sobrepeso, obesidade, diabetes e colesterol alto. A MASLD é uma das causas mais comuns de doenças hepáticas atualmente.
Recentemente o cantor João Gomes, de 22 anos, anunciou que parou de beber após ser diagnosticado com gordura no fígado, como é popularmente conhecida a esteatose hepática (MASLD). É estimado por especialistas que a doença atinja entre 25% e 30% da população mundial.
“Também existe a hepatite autoimune: imagine o corpo “se confundindo” e atacando as próprias células do fígado como se fossem invasores. É uma condição mais rara, influencia fatores genéticos e ambientais, e requer tratamento específico”, disse.
Certos remédios, quando usados em excesso ou sem orientação médica, também podem causar inflamação no fígado. No contexto das hepatites virais, que são o foco principal deste mês, entre os tipos mais comuns estão as hepatites A, B, C, D e E, sendo as três primeiras as que preocupam mais devido à sua prevalência e formas de transmissão. “A hepatite A, por exemplo, é transmitida principalmente pela água ou por alimentos contaminados, já a B e a C pela exposição ao sangue ou contato sexual”, esclarece. Ela lembra ainda que, embora o fígado seja o principal órgão afetado, complicações podem atingir outros órgãos, como os rins e o cérebro.
Identificar a hepatite pode ser um desafio, já que os sintomas iniciais são geralmente leves ou inexistentes. Porém, sinais como cansaço, dor no lado direito do abdôme, urina escura e icterícia — aquele amarelado na pele e olhos — merecem atenção. “Ao notar esses sinais é fundamental procurar um médico para avaliação”, recomenda Dra. Marilia. Não há faixa etária específica mais atingida, mas certos grupos são mais prevalentes, como usuários de drogas injetáveis, pessoas com múltiplos parceiros sexuais sem proteção e profissionais da Saúde que estão mais expostos aos tipos B,C,D.
Essas hepatites são chamadas de “hepatites de transmissão parenteral”, pois o vírus entra no corpo através do contato com sangue contaminado ou outros fluidos corporais. Já a hepatite A e E é transmitida por via fecal-oral e predomina em locais com saneamento precário, sendo transmitida pelo consumo de água e alimentos contaminados “Também é essencial que a população se informe sobre a vacinação para hepatite A e B, que é a forma mais eficaz de prevenção”, alerta a médica. Segundo ela, prevenir é mesmo o melhor caminho e manter bons hábitos de higiene, usar preservativos, evitar o compartilhamento de objetos pessoais cortantes e exigir materiais descartáveis em procedimentos como tatuagens e piercings são atitudes fundamentais”, reforça a médica.
Por fim, a Dra. Marília destaca que, sem diagnóstico e tratamento adequados, as hepatites B e C podem evoluir para quadros graves, como cirrose e câncer de fígado. “Por isso, durante este mês reforçamos a importância da informação. Independentemente da causa, pois todas as hepatites têm potencial de comprometer gravemente a saúde do fígado. Prevenção, diagnóstico precoce e acompanhamento médico são fundamentais para evitar complicações graves”, conclui Dra. Marília Imthon, médica assistente da BSL Saúde, que administra os residenciais Cora, Vivace, Bem Viver, Cora Premium, a Assistcare Home Care, as Clínicas Sainte Marie e a Gaia Cuidadores
