POR INB/GERÊNCIA DE COMUNICAÇÃO INSTITUCIONAL – (gecin@inb.gov.br)
A Indústrias Nucleares do Brasil (INB) deu mais um passo estratégico na consolidação do setor nuclear nacional. A empresa assinou, no último dia 17 de junho, em Brasília, contrato com o Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação e com a Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos (Finep) para o desenvolvimento e os testes de tecnologias críticas aplicáveis aos Microrreatores Nucleares (MRN) no Brasil.
O projeto, que tem duração prevista de três anos, representa um investimento total de R$ 50 milhões — sendo R$ 30 milhões em subvenção econômica da Finep, com recursos do Fundo Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico, e R$ 20 milhões de contrapartida das empresas participantes.
Com papel protagonista, a INB será responsável pelo fornecimento do combustível nuclear e por serviços especializados de engenharia, além de garantir suporte técnico e administrativo em todas as etapas do projeto.
“Este é um marco histórico para o setor nuclear brasileiro. A INB reforça sua vocação não apenas como produtora de combustível nuclear, mas também como uma empresa de base tecnológica, estratégica e protagonista no desenvolvimento de soluções inovadoras para o país”, destaca o presidente da INB, Adalto Seixas. “Os Microrreatores Nucleares têm enorme potencial para levar energia limpa, segura e sustentável a regiões remotas, além de atender demandas industriais, de defesa e de segurança energética nacional.”
O projeto reúne, além da INB, Centros de Pesquisa, Universidades e empresas brasileiras de referência, como o Instituto de Pesquisas Energéticas e Nucleares (Ipen), Amazul, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), Instituto Nacional de Telecomunicações (Inatel), Instituto de Engenharia Nuclear (IEN), entre outros.
O Diretor de Combustível Nuclear da INB, Reinaldo Gonzaga, que representou a empresa na cerimônia, ressalta que a participação da INB é determinante para viabilizar as etapas mais críticas do desenvolvimento tecnológico. “Estamos falando de uma tecnologia que poderá revolucionar a geração distribuída de energia no Brasil, e a INB estará na linha de frente desse processo, contribuindo com seu know-how em engenharia nuclear e fabricação de combustível.”
Os Microrreatores Nucleares são considerados uma das principais apostas globais para a transição energética, oferecendo soluções limpas, escaláveis e de alta segurança para geração de energia elétrica, produção de calor, hidrogênio e outras aplicações estratégicas.
