Na sexta-feira, 2 de maio, (02), por meio de um Ofício Circular subscrito pelo Provedor e pelo Médico Diretor Clínico, respectivamente Uilliam Lima Nery e Anderson Gabriel Sapucaia Pinto, o Hospital Regional São Sebastião/Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Itambé anunciou a suspensão de suas atividades a partir de segunda-feira, dia 05 de maio, encerrando 72 anos de serviços médicos prestados à população.
No Ofício Circular, os gestores revelaram a gravíssima crise financeira que a Instituição enfrenta há mais de uma década, agravada por frequentes bloqueios judiciais destinados à quitação de causas trabalhistas. De acordo com o documento, o Hospital está atolado em uma avalanche de dívidas.
Os responsáveis pelo Hospital destacaram que, entre janeiro e abril deste ano, a Entidade arrecadou R$ 610.970,68, porém teve R$ 286.753,26 bloqueados judicialmente, dificultando o pagamento de despesas essenciais, incluindo a folha salarial, que gira em torno de R$ 150 mensais.
Os gestores destacaram que as dívidas fiscais, tributárias e trabalhistas representam, em grande parte, valores excessivos que ultrapassam limites razoáveis. Como exemplo, foi mencionada uma Ação Judicial na Justiça do Trabalho contra a Santa Casa de Misericórdia, movida por um médico que prestou serviços à Instituição por aproximadamente cinco anos, com um valor estipulado pela Justiça superior a 3,6 milhões.
Segundo o comunicado, a situação crítica do Hospital Regional São Sebastião foi apresentada às autoridades municipais em uma reunião realizada no último dia 25 de abril, com a presença do prefeito José Cândido – Candinho – Rocha Araújo (PSD), do vice-prefeito Marcos Antônio – Marquinhos de Mônica – Campos da Silva (Republicanos) e de secretários municipais. Nessa ocasião, destaca o Ofício Circular, foram relatadas as dívidas com diversos credores, incluindo fornecedores de alimentos, materiais de construção, medicamentos e insumos, além de dívidas fiscais, tributárias e causas trabalhistas.
Segundo os gestores, ao longo de 20 anos, o Hospital Regional São Sebastião tem sido mantido com o apoio da população itambeense, que contribui por meio de doações de produtos e alimentos, além de participar ativamente de campanhas em prol da Instituição.
O encerramento do atendimento no Hospital Regional São Sebastião, anunciado pela Direção para a segunda-feira, dia 5, gerou um clima de apreensão entre os moradores da cidade e da região.
Especialistas em Saúde Pública da região, ouvidos pela reportagem do JS, sob reserva, expressam preocupações sobre o impacto dessa medida, que pode desestabilizar o já sobrecarregado Sistema de Saúde da região, principalmente de Vitória da Conquista.
Além das consequências imediatas no atendimento médico, a população de Itambé teme que a falta de infraestrutura hospitalar adequada leve a um aumento no tempo de espera por atendimentos, agrave situações de emergência e comprometa a qualidade do cuidado recebido. Muitos pacientes receiam que a transferência para Hospitais de outros municípios, principalmente Vitória da Conquista e Itapetinga, resulte em riscos adicionais à saúde.
População se reúne e interdita a Rodovia BA-263 em manifestação contra o fechamento do Hospital Regional São Sebastião
Em uma demonstração de solidariedade e preocupação com a Saúde Pública do município, a população de Itambé se mobilizou na manhã deste sábado, dia 3, para fechar a Rodovia BA-263, a principal via de acesso ao município e de Vitória da Conquista em direção ao Sul do Estado, em protesto contra o anuncio do fechamento do Hospital Regional São Sebastião.
Expressivo número de populares, refletindo a indignação popular diante da suspensão dos atendimentos na Unidade Regional de Saúde participaram do ato de protesto na manhã de hoje, no perímetro urbano da Rodovia, portando faixas e cartazes com mensagens de apoio ao hospital e cobrando alternativas para assegurar o direito dos moradores à Saúde, além de interromper o tráfego de veículos nos dois sentidos com pneus, que foram queimados.
No final da manhã, com o encerramento da manifestação e a retomada do tráfego de veículos, os manifestantes definiram uma nova mobilização para segunda-feira, data em que o atendimento no Hospital será formalmente interrompido. A ação deverá novamente impactar o fluxo de veículos no trecho urbano da BA-263. Além disso, os manifestantes afirmaram que manterão os protestos até que as autoridades apresentem um Plano de Contingência que garanta o funcionamento da Unidade de Saúde e minimize os impactos negativos na Assistência Médica à população de Itambé e da microrregião.

A reportagem do JS tentou contato com a Assessoria de Comunicação Social da Prefeitura Municipal de Itambé para obter informações sobre as medidas que estão sendo tomadas pelo poder público diante do anunciado encerramento dos atendimentos no Hospital Regional São Sebastião, mas não obteve resposta. Além disso, até o momento, a Administração Municipal não se pronunciou oficialmente sobre o protesto realizado nesta manhã. O espaço permanece disponível caso a Prefeitura queira se manifestar.
