A cidade de Itapetinga e toda a região Sudoeste da Bahia lamentam a morte de Michel José Hagge Filho, aos 97 anos, ocorrida na quarta-feira (1º), em Vitória da Conquista. O ex-vereador, ex-prefeito e ex-deputado estadual estava internado desde o dia 21 de setembro. Sua trajetória pública, marcada pelo compromisso com o desenvolvimento de Itapetinga e municípios vizinhos, deixa um legado que atravessa gerações.
Natural de Salvador, Michel Hagge chegou a Itapetinga em 1954, onde construiu uma carreira política sólida e duradoura. Foi vereador entre 1959 e 1962, e comandou a Prefeitura Municipal em três mandatos: 1983–1988, 1993–1996 e 2005–2008. Durante sua gestão, promoveu avanços significativos nas áreas de infraestrutura, saúde e educação. Entre as principais obras estão a construção de mais de dez escolas municipais, creches, a Central de Abastecimento, o Parque Poliesportivo da Lagoa e o Colégio CAIC Paulo Hagge, além de projetos de pavimentação e saneamento que transformaram o município.
Como deputado estadual, exerceu dois mandatos consecutivos (1999–2003 e 2003–2004), ampliando sua atuação em defesa do interior baiano, com iniciativas voltadas à inclusão social e ao fortalecimento da economia regional.
Fora da esfera política, Michel Hagge também teve papel relevante na vida comunitária. Foi um dos fundadores da Loja Maçônica Amor e União Itapetinguense, integrou a Associação Rural de Itapetinga — atual Sindicato Rural — e presidiu a Coopardo (Cooperativa Mista do Médio Rio Pardo) entre 1970 e 1975, contribuindo para o desenvolvimento do setor agropecuário.
Patriarca de uma família com forte presença na política local, Michel Hagge impulsionou a carreira de seus descendentes. Sua filha, Virgínia Hagge, foi vereadora e deputada estadual; seu neto, Rodrigo Hagge, exerceu dois mandatos como prefeito; e seu filho, Eduardo Hagge, é o atual chefe do Executivo municipal.
A notícia de sua morte gerou grande comoção entre autoridades, lideranças e moradores, que destacam sua dedicação à vida pública e seu exemplo de ética e trabalho.
