Isabela Franco, pediatra e professora do curso de Medicina do Centro Universitário UniFG, parte integrante da Inspirali, melhor ecossistema de educação em saúde do país, explica que o ideal é que a lavagem seja realizada com frequência na criança, a fim de promover sua adaptação.
No entanto, a especialista alerta para a importância de não forçar a criança na hora de realizar o procedimento, sob o risco de machucá-la. “Técnicas erradas de lavagem podem causar dores e incômodos. Contudo, não lavar as narinas e não retirar as secreções das vias aéreas causam um risco muito maior de infeções como sinusites, otites e até mesmo pneumonias”, explica.
“Sempre aconselhamos iniciar a lavagem com jatos contínuos de soro, os famosos sprays de lavagem nasal, ir migrando para seringas com pouco volume e aumentando o volume de acordo com a idade da criança. A técnica mais segura é aquela que causa o menor desconforto possível; de forma lenta; com a posição adequada da cabeça, um pouco levantada; e sem forçar”, reforça a pediatra.
Além desses cuidados, a médica reforça a necessidade de manter o cartão de vacina da criança atualizado com as doses anuais de vacina da gripe, pneumocócica e Covid-19. “Em quadros de piora ou persistência dos sintomas, febre alta e persistente, dificuldade para respirar (cansaço ou dispneia), prostração ou sonolência excessiva, recusa de alimentos ou líquidos, esforço para respirar, a criança ficar roxa (cianose) ou pálida, buscar atendimento médico com urgência”, orienta a professora da UniFG.
