Acompanhando o governador Jerônimo Rodrigues na visita a Vitória da Conquista, o ministro de Estado Chefe da Casa Civil da Presidência da República, Rui Costa dos Santos, destacou que as ações e investimentos realizados pelo Governo da Bahia para fortalecer a Rede de Saúde Pública de Vitória da Conquista, beneficiando também os municípios da macrorregião, evidenciam a eficiência e a importância da parceria entre os diferentes níveis de Governo.
Rui Costa também mencionou o lançamento, pelo presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), do Programa Agora Tem Especialidades, promovido pelo Ministério da Saúde.
Segundo o ministro, essa iniciativa do Governo Federal tem como objetivo ampliar o acesso da população a Consultas, Exames e Cirurgias Especializadas no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS), utilizando toda a estrutura de Saúde disponível no país — pública, privada e filantrópica — promovendo uma união de esforços entre o Estado, as Prefeituras Municipais e o setor privado.
Dessa forma, pontuou o ministro, busca-se aumentar a capacidade de atendimento nas redes locais, especialmente nas áreas com maior demanda reprimida. Rui Costa concluiu afirmando que com essa iniciativa, o Governo Federal espera reduzir significativamente o tempo de espera por Procedimentos Especializados, um dos principais gargalos do Sistema Público de Saúde.
