Projetos receberam até R$ 80 mil para realizarem iniciativas inovadoras que combinam, de forma lúdica, tecnologia, dança, arte e outras temáticas, com o objetivo de tornar a matemática mais atrativa aos estudantes

No Dia Internacional da Mulher (8 de março), o Itaú Social reforça o protagonismo feminino na educação: 11 dos 18 projetos selecionados pelo edital “Matemática nos Anos Finais do Ensino Fundamental” são coordenados por professoras. A iniciativa destina até R$ 80 mil para reconhecer e apoiar propostas que fortaleçam o ensino da matemática nas escolas públicas.
O protagonismo feminino no edital ganha destaque, sobretudo frente aos desafios ainda existentes para a equidade de gênero em certas áreas, como na Matemática. Segundo dados do Pisa (Programa Internacional de Avaliação de Aluno) 2022, os meninos apresentam um desempenho superior em matemática, com uma diferença de oito pontos em relação às meninas. Além disso, a proporção de estudantes com baixo desempenho na disciplina é maior entre o público feminino (76%) do que entre o masculino (71%), como mostra o exame.
A tendência se repete no mercado de trabalho, com mulheres liderando apenas 31% das ocupações vinculadas à matemática, contra 69% dos homens. Os dados são da pesquisa “Contribuição dos trabalhos intensivos em Matemática para a economia brasileira”, do Itaú Social, que também revelou que essas posições oferecem salários 119% superiores à média dos demais trabalhadores.
“A matemática ainda é uma área onde, muitas vezes, os meninos se destacam, possivelmente por receberem mais estímulos e serem mais encorajados desde a infância. Nesse contexto, os resultados do edital ganham ainda mais relevância. A presença feminina à frente de projetos na área pode contribuir para aumentar a confiança das alunas e incentivá-las a considerar carreiras na área”, observa Sonia Dias, gerente de Desenvolvimento e Soluções do Itaú Social.
O edital de matemática foi realizado pelo Itaú Social, em parceria com a Secretaria de Educação Básica do MEC (Ministério da Educação), e contou com 1.392 inscrições de todas as regiões do país. As propostas foram distribuídas em duas modalidades:
- Reconhecimento: voltada para práticas já consolidadas no país, com premiação de até R$ 10 mil;
- Fomento: destinada a iniciativas em fase de planejamento, que receberam até R$ 80 mil.
Laboratório de Matemática Móvel e Virtual
“Sempre observei que, para muitos estudantes, os conceitos matemáticos parecem distantes da realidade e difíceis de aplicar no dia a dia”. Com isso em mente, a professora Bruna criou uma solução que tornou a matemática mais prática e tangível: o Laboratório de Matemática Móvel e Virtual.
Os desafios enfrentados no cotidiano escolar impulsionaram a concepção do projeto. “A falta de materiais pedagógicos dinâmicos e a carência de recursos tecnológicos em muitas escolas são problemas que precisam ser resolvidos”, afirma. Para superar essas barreiras, o laboratório oferece recursos interativos, como jogos didáticos e sólidos geométricos escaneáveis em 3D, além de um podcast sobre a história de grandes matemáticos.
O foco está em cativar os alunos de forma significativa. “Quando eles interagem com esses materiais, percebo que se sentem mais engajados e curiosos”, destaca. O projeto também inclui um laboratório virtual com materiais em PDF, permitindo que professores reproduzam a iniciativa em diferentes contextos.
Com essa abordagem, o Laboratório de Matemática Móvel e Virtual busca criar novas possibilidades de ensino, valorizando a criatividade dos educadores e o entusiasmo dos estudantes. A ideia é clara: transformar o aprendizado da matemática em uma experiência mais dinâmica e inspiradora.
Matemática e movimento corporal
Em 2018, uma atividade inovadora deu início a um projeto que, atualmente, vem transformando o ensino da matemática na Escola Municipal Bataillard. “Sempre gostei de diversificar e criar propostas diferentes nas aulas de matemática”, conta a professora Márcia Viana. A partir dessa paixão, ela elaborou uma atividade sobre transformações geométricas, inicialmente voltada para o 6º ano, e que posteriormente foi adaptada para o 8º ano.
O projeto ganhou novos contornos em 2024, quando foi selecionado pelo Itaú Social, em parceria com a Secretaria de Educação Básica do MEC (Ministério da Educação). A proposta é estabelecer uma conexão entre as transformações geométricas no plano cartesiano e a dança, um movimento que possui simetria. “A geometria ajuda na disposição de dançarinos profissionais, e isso já era uma prática conhecida por grandes nomes da dança”, explica a educadora.
Os alunos foram desafiados a criar suas próprias coreografias, utilizando os conhecimentos adquiridos ao longo do bimestre. “Nunca os vi tão envolvidos. Embora as populares dancinhas do TikTok chamem a atenção dos jovens, o projeto se destaca por seu caráter colaborativo, em que cada estudante tem um papel fundamental. Foi algo que valeu muito a pena”, ressalta Márcia.
Para ela, esse tipo de abordagem não apenas estimula o aprendizado da matemática de forma lúdica, mas também promove o engajamento dos alunos em um ambiente colaborativo. O desafio se torna, assim, o protagonista das atividades matemáticas, mostrando que é possível unir criatividade e aprendizado em sala de aula.
Mapas mentais como ferramenta de aprendizagem
A proposta “Aprendizagem Ativa em Matemática: Mapas Mentais como Forma de Registro Próprio dos Estudantes dos Anos Finais do Ensino Fundamental” foi idealizada pela professora Liliane Rezende Anastácio que buscava métodos mais eficazes para engajar seus alunos.
“No dia a dia da sala de aula, percebo que muitos estudantes enfrentam dificuldades não apenas com os conteúdos em si, mas com a forma de organizar o conhecimento que recebem. Os registros no caderno, muitas vezes lineares e desconectados, não contribuem para que eles façam associações ou compreendam a lógica por trás dos conceitos matemáticos. Além disso, observava a dificuldade em revisitar e revisar o que aprenderam, dependendo muito de explicações repetidas. Foi nesse contexto que a ideia dos mapas mentais começou a ganhar força”, explica a educadora.
Entretanto, a implementação da metodologia contou com muitos desafios. “O primeiro foi romper com a resistência inicial de alguns estudantes que estavam acostumados a métodos tradicionais”, relata. Para contornar isso, a professora utilizou materiais simples, como lápis e papel, garantindo a inclusão de todos os alunos.
Além disso, ela se deparou com a necessidade de criar momentos intencionais para a troca e revisão dos mapas mentais entre os estudantes, promovendo a colaboração e a valorização das diferentes formas de pensar. “Essa parte foi essencial para que eles compreendessem que os mapas mentais não eram apenas desenhos ou registros individuais, mas um recurso que podia ser enriquecido coletivamente”, ressalta.
Hoje, ao refletir sobre o impacto do projeto, Liliane destaca: “Foi gratificante vê-los apresentarem seus mapas mentais na Feira da Educação Básica – UFMG Jovem, mostrando o quanto se apropriaram da ferramenta”. A experiência reafirma sua crença de que é possível tornar a matemática mais acessível e conectada à realidade dos estudantes.
Semana da Matemática encanta e educa
Iniciado em 2016 com uma homenagem ao professor Júlio César de Mello e Souza (Malba Tahan), o projeto celebra anualmente o Dia Nacional da Matemática, comemorado em 6 de maio, escolhendo uma temática ou um matemático como foco a cada edição. “A ideia é integrar a disciplina com outras áreas do conhecimento, ampliando a compreensão dos alunos”, explica a professora Valéria Souza Farias.
A Semana da Matemática busca enriquecer o aprendizado dos alunos por meio de uma abordagem lúdica e interativa. Segundo a educadora, “a matéria é muitas vezes vista como algo abstrato e desafiador, mas é essencial para a formação do pensamento crítico e analítico”. Além de ensinar conceitos, o evento também mostra como esses conhecimentos se aplicam na vida cotidiana.
Em 2024, o tema sugerido foram os doze trabalhos de Hércules, que permitiu uma imersão na cultura grega. “Trabalhamos a beleza grega por meio de mosaicos e jogos de tabuleiro, conectando a matemática com a arte e a história”, comenta a educadora. A interação entre disciplinas é fundamental: professores de português, educação física e artes colaboram em atividades que envolvem todos os alunos.
A escolha de figuras históricas como Arquimedes, Newton e Pitágoras como homenageados em edições anteriores estabelece uma conexão com a história, ressaltando o contexto cultural e científico em que esses matemáticos atuaram. “Ao integrar a Matemática com outras disciplinas, como história, artes e ciências, promovemos uma visão holística do conhecimento”, acrescenta.
As atividades planejadas incluem jogos educativos, competições e projetos interdisciplinares que incentivam a colaboração entre os alunos.
