O PADRE era muito exigente com relação ao horário, não admitia atrasos dos fiéis nos sacramentos da Igreja, entre eles batizados, casamentos. Diariamente cumpria o seu compromisso de fé, rigorosamente às sete horas e dava início a liturgia do dia.
O Sacerdote tinha como característica marcar separadamente, os batizados e casamentos, em um só dia, uma praticidade que facilitava o seu trabalho.
O Batismo é a iniciação cristã, o início de uma nova vida em Cristo.
Nos batizados ele reunia um grande número de batizando, todos de vela nas mãos, para receber o sacramento do batismo. O Vigário perguntava o nome do batizante e pronunciava: — Eu te batizo em nome do Pai, do Filho e do Espírito Santo, aspergindo água sobre a cabeça do candidato, e o sacristão (auxiliar do Sacerdote), ia após, ungindo com óleo bento, fazendo o sinal da cruz, encerrando a unção batismal. No final da fila o Padre pronunciava, — estão todos batizados. Assim também procedia na confirmação batismal. Nada mais prático.
O Sacramento Matrimonial: da mesma forma prática, o Cura realizava os casamentos.
O casamento é a união de um homem e uma mulher, que constituem entre si a comunhão para toda vida, de forma que eles não são mais dois, mas uma só carne. Compete aos cônjuges, a educação da prole, a iniciação religiosa e o encaminhamento digno para o exercício da cidadania.
Certa feita o Eclesiástico procedia a realização de vários casamentos, como sempre agia, marcava todos em um só dia. Desde cedo, às 7 horas, estava cumprindo esse ofício, essa obrigação. No final o padre já estava cansado. O noivo estava postado diante do altar, à espera da presença da noiva para a realização da cerimônia, por motivos de arranjo pessoal, a noiva se atrasou.
O Padre, impaciente, chamava a noiva e nada de ela aparecer, então ele perguntava ao noivo: – Cadê a noiva rapaz? Ele respondia: – está chegando padre, tenha paciência. Apontou para o relógio e disse: — vou esperar quinze minutos, se ela não chegar não haverá mais casamento. Findo o prazo, a casadoura ainda não havia se apresentado.
O vigário foi-se embora para sua residência, apagou as luzes para não atender mais ninguém. Ocorre que um dos padrinhos do casal era amigo do padre, prestava-lhe favores, era pessoa de sua consideração. Telefonou explicando o ocorrido solicitando, que atendesse ao seu pedido para realização do matrimônio, pois tudo estava programado e seria uma grande desfeita.
— Vou atender ao seu pedido, que estejam no altar, caso contrário nem a você atenderei. Após a rápida cerimônia, fez um sermão advertindo a noiva que obedecesse ao critério da responsabilidade do compromisso assumido, pois ele desde cedo estava cumprindo a sua obrigação, não era justo esperar pela delonga da pretendente, entre outras repreensões.
A noiva entrou na igreja exibindo toda pompa e circunstância ao som da valsa nupcial (Danúbio Azul); após a reprimenda saiu chorando. Não obstante, houve festa de comemoração e os noivos cumpriram a sua missão.
