A campanha Setembro Amarelo visa conscientizar a sociedade sobre a prevenção ao suicídio e a importância de cuidar da saúde mental. E também serve como uma alerta em relação à automedicação em casos de depressão e ansiedade. O farmacêutico Márcio Falcão, coordenador do curso de Farmácia da Uninassau Recife, campus Graças, explica como o uso indiscriminado traz consequências negativas ao paciente.
“A automedicação em situações de problemas mentais pode piorar ou mascarar os sintomas, levar à dependência de substâncias e interferir com outros medicamentos. Por isso, é de extrema importância buscar o tratamento adequado com um médico, preferencialmente um psiquiatra, além da psicoterapia, com um psicólogo. Eles são os profissionais ideais para orientar o paciente que precisa de ajuda”, afirma.
“Já o papel do farmacêutico não é apenas dispensar os medicamentos prescritos, mas fazer o acompanhamento farmacoterapêutico, observando possíveis interações com demais medicamentos que o paciente faz uso, orientando sobre o melhor horário a tomar e se pode ser ingerido com ou sem alimentos, além de fazer a ponte com o profissional médico para monitorar possíveis efeitos adversos, os quais podem resultar na suspensão ou troca do medicamento”, afirma.
Muitas vezes, por vergonha em buscar apoio profissional ou falta de informação, as pessoas acabam tomando medicamentos por conta própria — seja um ansiolítico, um antidepressivo que alguém indicou ou até mesmo medicamentos prescritos para outros. Algumas reações adversas são: tonturas e confusão mental, irritabilidade, arritmia cardíaca, convulsões, agravamento dos sintomas depressivos e dependência química. “E quando são descontinuados de maneira incorreta, o paciente pode apresentar ansiedade intensa e crises de pânico, pois entra em abstinência”, explica o farmacêutico.
“O profissional de saúde é quem vai entregar o diagnóstico preciso, definir o medicamento mais adequado para o tratamento individualizado, assim como a dosagem correta, e orientar sobre algumas abordagens que podem ser benéficas, como a psicoterapia, atividades físicas e mudanças no estilo de vida”, finaliza o coordenador do curso de Farmácia da Uninassau Graças.
