Em uma manifestação do último dia 20 de junho, que foi revelada nesta quarta-feira (6), com exclusividade pelo site Bahia Notícias, o prefeito de Itapetinga, Eduardo Jorge Almeida Hagge (MDB), fez um apelo formal ao governador do Estado, Jerônimo Rodrigues Souza (PT), em defesa da manutenção pelo Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE) da decisão do Tribunal Regional Eleitoral da Bahia (TER/BA) que cassou o mandato do vereador Diego – Diga Diga – Queiroz Rodrigues (PSD). Na correspondência, o gestor itapetinguense reforçou a importância da Procuradoria Geral do Estado acompanhar o Recurso interposto pelo vereador Diego – Diga Diga – Queiroz Rodrigues (PSD) ao Tribunal Superior Eleitoral, destacando a “relevância deste assunto para a transparência e a estabilidade democrática” de Itapetinga e apelando para que a adoção de “providências adequadas, dentro das atribuições do governador, para garantir a manutenção da decisão já tomada pelo TRE-BA”.
A decisão do prefeito gerou polêmica e debates intensos nos bastidores da política itapetinguense e nas ruas da cidade, refletindo as preocupações com a ética e a governança no município.
O Tribunal Regional Eleitoral da Bahia cassou, por unanimidade, o mandato do vereador Diego Queiroz Rodrigues, conhecido como Diga Diga (PSD), em decisão formalizada no dia 26 de março. A medida atendeu a uma denúncia do Ministério Público Eleitoral, que argumentou que o diploma do vereador deveria ser anulado devido à sua inelegibilidade no momento do registro da candidatura. Diego Queiroz Rodrigues foi condenado por agressão a um servidor público e por difamação, crime previsto no Artigo 139 do Código Penal Brasileiro, em relação à também vereadora Sibele Shirley da Silva Moura Nery (PT). O Tribunal seguiu a orientação do Ministério Público, afirmando que as condenações judiciais afetam a elegibilidade e a legitimidade do cargo, resultando na perda do mandato.
Em sua manifestação ao governador, o prefeito Eduardo Jorge Almeida Hagge (MDB) destacou a importância da integridade e da responsabilidade no serviço público, apontando ser dever dos agentes públicos eleitos pelo voto popular zelar pela transparência e pela ética nos Processos Eleitorais, ressaltando que a decisão do “TRE foi um passo importante para reforçar a confiança da população nas Instituições”.
O apelo do prefeito ao governador Jerônimo Rodrigues também ecoa entre diversos membros da Câmara Municipal, que, em ao JS, sob condição de anonimato, manifestaram apoio à decisão do Tribunal Regional Eleitoral. A reportagem do JS identificou que, entre os cidadãos, apesar da polarização gerada pela cassação do mandato do vereador Diego – Diga Diga – Queiroz Rodrigues (PSD), há um entendimento comum sobre a importância de manter altos padrões para os representantes eleitos. A maioria da população, entretanto, exige que o recurso seja avaliado pelo Tribunal Superior Eleitoral de forma justa e transparente, sem qualquer influência de partes externas ao caso. “É fundamental respeitar as decisões legais, mas também assegurar que todos tenham direito a um julgamento imparcial”, declarou um líder comunitário que optou por não se identificar, expressando o sentimento de uma significativa parcela da população de Itapetinga.
A expectativa agora recai sobre o Tribunal Superior Eleitoral, que deve analisar o recurso em breve. As próximas semanas serão cruciais para que a situação se esclareça e que a população tenha uma definição sobre o futuro do vereador em questão.
