O futuro das festas juninas no interior da Bahia entrou em pauta após declaração do prefeito de Jequié, Zenildo – Zé Cocá – Brandão Santana (Progressistas) que manifestou preocupação com o aumento dos custos para a realização do São João nos municípios. Segundo o gestor, os valores destinados às celebrações cresceram de forma acelerada, especialmente nos cachês artísticos e nas despesas com estrutura, tornando inviável manter os festejos nos moldes atuais.
De acordo com o prefeito, os investimentos chegam a ser até três vezes superiores ao orçamento utilizado em anos anteriores, comprometendo as finanças das Prefeituras Municipais. “Os custos cresceram de forma desproporcional. Hoje, o que antes garantia uma festa completa já não é suficiente nem para cobrir itens básicos como palco, som e iluminação”, afirmou.
O prefeito ressaltou que a situação não se restringe a Jequié, mas atinge a maioria dos municípios baianas, sobretudo os de médio e pequeno porte, que enfrentam limitações orçamentárias. Caso o cenário persista, ele avalia que a realização do São João poderá se tornar insustentável para grande parte das Administrações Municipais.
Diante desse quadro, o gestor defende a necessidade de debater medidas de equilíbrio nos gastos públicos, como a definição de critérios para contratação de artistas e a possibilidade de estabelecer um teto para os cachês pagos com recursos municipais. A proposta inclui abrir diálogo com órgãos de fiscalização, como o Tribunal de Contas dos Municípios da Bahia, para criar parâmetros que assegurem responsabilidade fiscal.
Outro ponto levantado por prefeitos é a grande variação nos valores cobrados por artistas em diferentes regiões do Estado, o que amplia a desigualdade entre municípios na hora de montar a programação. Além do controle de despesas, a iniciativa busca incentivar a valorização de artistas locais e regionais, fortalecendo a identidade cultural e promovendo maior diversidade nas atrações.
A discussão reacende o alerta sobre os desafios de manter uma das festas mais tradicionais da Bahia. O São João, além de patrimônio cultural, é considerado um dos principais motores da economia local, responsável por gerar empregos, movimentar o comércio e atrair turistas para dezenas de cidades do Estado.
