A antiga prefeitura Municipal de Brumado-Bahia foi construída em 1922 por Major Aurélio, (Aureliano Alves de Carvalho) quando a cidade se chamava Bom Jesus dos Meiras, e foi desativada em 1976. No local funcionou a prefeitura e o Fórum da Comarca de Brumado. Os políticos da época, [não recebiam subsídios] exerceram as suas funções e deveres parlamentares por 54 anos. O prédio da prefeitura velha está situado na Praça Capitão Francisco de Souza Meira, antiga praça da Bandeira.
Segundo informações de seu Santos, proprietário da farmácia veterinária, a planta do prédio, foi fornecida por um alemão comprador de pedras preciosas, amigo do prefeito, que esboçou o desejo de construir o prédio para abrigar a prefeitura.
os casamentos eram realizados no cartório de seu Hermes, pai do informante, e as questões políticas eram realizadas na prefeitura. Mestre Eufrásio, que também era sanfoneiro, me informou que já tocou em carnavais realizado na prefeitura antiga.
Fiquei surpreso com a informação de que o gestor Eduardo Vasconcelos, tinha a pretensão de demolir o prédio para o alargamento da rua. O prédio está completamente deteriorado, por descaso do administrador que não providenciou a devida restauração, parece coisa premeditada.
Esse prédio tem valor histórico, nesse local funcionou também o INSS e a Farmácia popular. Houve muitas cobranças para que esse patrimônio histórico e cultural fosse preservado, mas a administração fez ouvidos moucos.
A Educadora Maria José Ramalho Meireles, também conhecida como Tia Zé, cobrou da administração providências nesse sentido, inclusive fornecendo sugestões. A Educadora ocupou a tribuna livre da Câmara de vereadores de Brumado para chamar a atenção dos parlamentares para o abandono do patrimônio Histórico municipal, e ficou horrorizada com a situação. Em seu pronunciamento, cobrou ainda, maior atenção do Poder Público para a manutenção e conservação de outros prédios históricos com o objetivo de manter viva a história de Brumado. “Se as autoridades não tomarem providências vamos perder tudo”, declarou Maria José.
Esse absurdo é propósito de quem não tem compromisso com a história e a cultura do município, é lamentável esse posicionamento.
Quem desconhece e não preserva a história e a cultura do passado, não tem compromisso com a preservação histórica do patrimônio cultural do município.
Nessa oportunidade sugiro que se faça a recuperação do prédio e que possa abrigar a Biblioteca, o museu municipal e a entidade cultural ALAB – Academia de Letras e arte de Brumado, conservando-se as características originais. A decisão fica a cargo do novo administrador.
