Em dezembro de 2024, a produção industrial (transformação e extrativa mineral) da Bahia, ajustada sazonalmente, registrou avanço de 2,8% em comparação ao mês imediatamente anterior, após queda de 0,8% em novembro. Na comparação com igual mês do ano anterior, a indústria baiana assinalou aumento de 4,2%. No acumulado do ano de 2024 em relação a 2023, sete das 11 atividades pesquisadas assinalaram avanço da produção. O segmento de Derivados de petróleo (4,2%) registrou a maior contribuição positiva, devido ao aumento na produção de óleo diesel. Outros segmentos que registraram crescimento no ano passado foram: produtos químicos (6,4%), produtos de borracha e material plástico (10,1%), máquinas, aparelhos e materiais elétricos (26,1%), Celulose, papel e produtos de papel (2,9%), Bebidas (5,8%) e produtos alimentícios (0,1%). Por sua vez, Metalurgia (-12,6%) exerceu a principal influência negativa no período, explicada especialmente pela menor fabricação de vergalhões de aço ao carbono. Outros resultados negativos no indicador foram observados em Couro, artigos para viagem e calçados (-9,1%), indústria extrativa (-1,7%) e minerais não metálicos (-2,8%).
No quarto trimestre de 2024, comparado com o mesmo período do ano anterior, a produção industrial baiana assinalou avanço de 1,5%, quinto aumento consecutivo nesta comparação. Sete das 11 atividades registraram aumento no último trimestre do ano: produtos químicos (10,4%), produtos de borracha e de material plástico (8,4%), derivados de petróleo (1,3%), minerais não metálicos (10,8%), máquinas, aparelhos e materiais elétricos (33,0%), bebidas (2,2%) e produtos alimentícios (1,2%). Em sentido contrário, as atividades de metalurgia (-4,0%), extrativa (-16,2%), couros, artigos para viagem e calçados (-19,0%) e celulose e papel (-0,9%) registraram recuo no período.
