Nos últimos dois anos, milhares de famílias envolvidas na cafeicultura na Bahia têm encontrado novas oportunidades. A agricultura familiar tem se destacado ao aumentar a produção de café de maneira mais organizada e sustentável.
Na Comunidade Rio Bonito, em Ribeirão do Largo, o agricultor Vanderlei Pereira de Abreu e sua família estão dedicados a melhorar a fertilidade de suas áreas de cultivo, seguindo rigorosamente as orientações técnicas, desde a adubação até o manejo, o que tem elevado a produtividade das plantas. Agora, a comunidade se prepara para adotar práticas agroecológicas sob a orientação do Governo do Estado.
Eles fazem parte das 34.937 famílias beneficiadas pela chamada pública Ater (Assistência Técnica e Extensão Rural) Biomas da Bahia em apenas dois anos e meio – metade do tempo programado. O Programa investirá um total de R$ 223.618.655,00 em ações estratégicas para o desenvolvimento local e a conservação dos Biomas Caatinga, Cerrado e Mata Atlântica, abrangendo 35.650 grupos familiares.
A iniciativa da Superintendência Baiana de Assistência Técnica e Extensão Rural (Bahiater), vinculada à Secretaria de Estado do Desenvolvimento Rural da Bahia, já alcançou 20 Territórios onde a cafeicultura, uma das preferidas dos brasileiros, é praticada. A Bahiater oferece assistência técnica às comunidades rurais, promovendo maior conhecimento sobre produção, manejo, colheita, prevenção de doenças, acesso a políticas públicas e emissão do Cadastro Nacional da Agricultura Familiar (CAF), além de promover a troca de saberes.
“O acompanhamento do técnico é muito importante. Aprendemos sobre análise de solo e curvas de nível… Temos café, banana e milho, e só temos a aprender e agradecer”, comenta Vanderlei. Sua família é assistida pela Bahiater através da Cooperativa Mista de Produção e Comercialização Camponesa da Bahia (CPC-BA).
“O objetivo da Ater Biomas é promover o desenvolvimento rural sustentável e a produção de alimentos saudáveis nas Unidades Produtivas Familiares nos Biomas da Bahia. Em relação ao café, nossas equipes das Entidades contratadas oferecem assistência técnica adaptada à realidade de cada família agricultora, seja na produção do tipo Conilon ou Arábica, que é mais comum na agricultura familiar do Estado, seja no Cerrado, na Caatinga ou na Mata Atlântica”, afirma Lanns Alves de Almeida Filho, titular da Superintendência Baiana de Assistência Técnica e Extensão Rural (Bahiater).
Com os investimentos do Ater Biomas – até agora, R$ 5.341.019 foram aplicados na cafeicultura – essas famílias estão contribuindo para o fortalecimento da produção de café na Bahia, que continua a ser o quarto maior produtor do Brasil, conforme os dados da Safra da Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento (Conab).
