Podemos aprender com tudo ao nosso redor, inclusive com as pequenas abelhas. Apesar do tamanho, elas desempenham um papel gigantesco no equilíbrio do ecossistema. Com isso em mente, o Projeto de Extensão “Educando com Abelhas” foi criado na Uesb, em 2024, no campus de Vitória da Conquista. A proposta é aproximar crianças e adolescentes do fascinante universo desses insetos e conscientizá-los sobre sua importância para a biodiversidade.
O Projeto destaca a diversidade das Abelhas Sem Ferrão, também chamadas de Abelhas Nativas, promovendo a conscientização sobre seu papel ecológico. As atividades abordam temas como Biologia, Manejo Sustentável e Preservação dessas espécies.
Nas visitas guiadas ao Meliponário da Uesb, os participantes conhecem de perto a produção de mel e pólen, o papel fundamental da polinização e curiosidades sobre as abelhas. As atividades são voltadas para alunos da Educação Básica e realizadas em grupos de até 30 estudantes, com duração de uma hora.
Durante os encontros, os alunos interagem com as Colônias e aprendem sobre as abelhas de maneira simplificada e desmistificada. Diferenças entre Apicultura e Meliponicultura, funcionamento das Caixas de Criação e das Colônias, importância das plantas na polinização, organização dos ninhos, ciclo de vida das abelhas e muito mais fazem parte do bate-papo.
