Proporcionar experiências coletivas que deem visibilidade e protagonismo às manifestações culturais e práticas geradoras de renda das comunidades remanescentes é um dos objetivos do programa de extensão “Conexão Quilombo, Cultura e Geração de Renda”. A ação é realizada nos Quilombos de Thiago e da Jussara e surgiu a partir da necessidade de reconhecer e valorizar suas tradições, saberes e modos de vida.
Historicamente, essas comunidades enfrentam desafios econômicos, sociais e culturais devido à marginalização e exclusão social. Por isso, é essencial promover seu empoderamento, garantindo o reconhecimento de suas culturas e criando alternativas econômicas sustentáveis.
Nesse contexto, a geração de renda é um dos focos do Programa da Uesb, estimulando o desenvolvimento econômico por meio da comercialização da produção da agricultura familiar e outras iniciativas locais. Além disso, o Programa apoia as Comunidades Quilombolas no acesso a políticas públicas, recursos e mercados, promovendo inclusão e redução das desigualdades.
Entre as ações, são desenvolvidos encontros de vivências coletivas, intercâmbios entre Comunidades Quilombolas, Feiras Agroecológicas que preservam saberes e sabores ancestrais. Para a geração de renda, são realizados cursos nas áreas de Avicultura, Apicultura, Meliponicultura, entre outras.
Além disso, são ofertadas capacitações de compostagem e produção de insumos orgânicos para Horticultura, produção de sabão e seus derivados, práticas de processamento de alimentos como fabricação de geleias, polpa de frutas e reaproveitamento integral dos alimentos, além de orientações técnicas e práticas em diversas áreas.
