Ter conhecimento sobre parasitoses e ficar atento às doenças que esses microrganismos podem causar na saúde é de extrema importância. Dessa forma, em junho de 2024, surgiu o Projeto de Extensão “Parasitoses, a solução está na palma da mão – estratégias de Educação em Saúde”, iniciativa que leva informações para as comunidades quilombolas da zona rural e urbana de Vitória da Conquista.
Parasitoses são infecções causadas por microrganismos, como vermes e protozoários, que podem ocasionar doenças na pele ou no trato gastrointestinal humano. As transmissões ocorrem via fecal-oral, ou seja, por contato ou ingestão de água e alimentos contaminados.
Assim, com o objetivo de informar a população quilombola sobre a existência de doenças causadas por parasitas, o Projeto leva às comunidades os conhecimentos necessários para prevenção das enfermidades, a detecção precoce dos sintomas e a busca por cuidados médicos.
O Projeto funciona por meio de visitas dos integrantes do grupo nas comunidades São Joaquim, na zona rural do município, e Vó Dola, na zona urbana. Nas visitações, são realizadas reuniões com os líderes das comunidades, análises de cenários, conversas com jovens sobre parasitoses sexualmente transmitidas e atividades lúdicas com as crianças. Panfletos sobre os temas são distribuídos nas Casas de Saúde dos locais amparados pelo Projeto. Nas redes sociais, estão disponíveis cartoons, podcasts e vídeos curtos, em formato de animação, para um maior alcance das informações.
