Projeto Glaucoma assegura atendimento e medicamentos gratuitos a pacientes em Brumado

O Projeto Glaucoma tem desempenhado papel fundamental na melhoria da qualidade de vida de centenas de moradores de Brumado, ao oferecer acompanhamento especializado e distribuição gratuita de medicamentos para indivíduos diagnosticados com a doença. Atualmente, aproximadamente 820 pessoas estão sendo atendidas por meio da iniciativa da Prefeitura Municipal, coordenada pela Secretaria Municipal de Saúde.

Reconhecido como uma das principais causas de cegueira irreversível mundial, o Glaucoma é uma condição silenciosa e progressiva que danifica o Nervo Óptico. Quando não tratado adequadamente, pode resultar na perda gradual da visão. Para possibilitar o diagnóstico precoce, o Projeto garante consultas regulares com Oftalmologistas, que realizam exames como Medição da Pressão Ocular e avaliação do Fundo de Olho.

Além do acompanhamento clínico, o Programa disponibiliza gratuitamente medicamentos essenciais para o controle da Pressão Intraocular, prevenindo a progressão da doença. A iniciativa é considerada vital para diminuir os impactos sociais e econômicos da cegueira, promovendo a autonomia e a inclusão social dos pacientes.

Com ações como essa, Brumado se destaca no enfrentamento de uma das doenças oculares mais desafiadoras, reafirmando o compromisso da Saúde Pública em garantir acesso universal e gratuito a tratamentos que preservam a visão e melhoram a qualidade de vida da população.
