Após a suspensão, conforme anunciado, do atendimento aos pacientes, e dos protestos da população que chegaram a interditar o trecho urbano da BA-163, o Hospital Regional São Sebastião/Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Itambé recebeu uma sinalização de apoio emergencial por parte da Prefeitura Municipal e retomou suas atividades na noite de terça-feira (06). Desde então, diante da repercussão negativa, da apreensão dos pacientes e do Sistema de Saúde Pública de Vitória da Conquista e Itapetinga — locais onde os pacientes seriam obrigados a buscar atendimento — a Prefeitura Municipal de Itambé, por meio da Secretaria Municipal Municipal de Saúde, buscou alternativas para garantir o funcionamento do Hospital, uma vez que a estrutura municipal não teria capacidade de absorver toda a demanda.
Na quarta-feira (08), o Provedor da Santa Casa de Misericórdia, Entidade Mantenedora do Hospital, Uilliam Lima Nery, acompanhado pelos prefeitos de Itambé, José Cândido – Candinho – Rocha Araújo (PSD), e de Ribeirão do Largo, Jesuina – Zuina Borges – Moreira Borges (Avante), participaram de audiência com a secretária de Estado da Saúde da Bahia, Roberta Silva de Carvalho Santana, em Salvador. O objetivo foi discutir a crise que afeta o Hospital, agravada por falta de recursos, subfinanciamento, dívidas trabalhistas e bloqueios judiciais que comprometem o pagamento de salários, fornecedores e prestadores de serviços.
Durante a reunião, Uilliam Lima Nery relatou a situação real da Instituição e destacou o compromisso da equipe — composta por médicos, enfermeiros, auxiliares de enfermagem, técnicos, pessoal administrativo e de serviços gerais — que, apesar dos salários atrasados, da escassez de medicamentos e materiais de insumo essenciais, não hesitaram em retomar as atividades na terça-feira, colaborando para que a população de Itambé e da microrregião não ficasse sem atendimento hospitalar eficiente e de qualidade.
Diante da gravidade da crise, a secretária Roberta Santana demonstrou sensibilidade ao problema e garantiu que serão tomadas providências urgentes, reforçando o compromisso do Governo do Estado de melhorar a estrutura hospitalar e a assistência à população, assegurando que ações emergenciais, incluindo a disponibilização de insumos, estãrão sendo implementadas para atender às necessidades mais imediatas e garantir o funcionamento adequado da Unidade de Saúde.
Reconhecendo a severidade da crise — que ressaltou, infelizmente, não é exclusiva de Itambé — a secretária destacou a importância do Hospital Regional São Sebastião/Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Itambé e afirmou que, seguindo orientação do governador Jerônimo Rodrigues, a Secretaria de Estado da Saúde da Bahia tem apoiado os municípios. Ela anunciou que um Plano de Ação Articulado está sendo estruturado e que recursos necessários já estão sendo disponibilizados para assegurar a continuidade dos atendimentos no Hospital Regional São Sebastião.
A notícia da retomada do funcionamento do Hospital trouxe alívio e esperança à comunidade de Itambé e microrregião. Os prefeitos de Itambé, José Cândido – Candinho – Rocha Araújo (PSD), e de Ribeirão do Largo, Jesuina – Zuina Borges – Moreira Borges (Avante), comemoraram o apoio do Governo do Estado, que garantiu medidas emergenciais essenciais para que a Unidade Hospitalar pudesse voltar a atender às demandas urgentes da população. Os gestores ressaltaram a importância da parceria e consideraram essa conquista um avanço significativo na melhoria da Saúde Pública local e regional.
Presentes na reunião, entre outros, além do Provedor da Santa Casa de Misericórdia e dos prefeitos, estiveram o Diretor Financeiro do Hospital São Sebastião/Santa Casa de Misericórdia, Fábio Alves de Araújo; os secretários municipais de Saúde e de Administração de Itambé, Valdeci Oliveira Porto e Adriana Souza Alves, respectivamente; e a Chefe do Gabinete Civil da Prefeitura Municipal de Ribeirão do Largo, Laryana Gomes Gracia.
