Cansados de promessas vazias e do descaso do Poder Público, moradores de São Félix do Coribe realizaram, na tarde da quinta-feira (5), um protesto com bloqueio da estrada que dá acesso a Comunidades de Fazenda Nova e Alagoinhas e suas microrregiões. O trecho, que também passa pela Rua Paulo Rabelo, na sede municipal, segundo os manifestantes, escancara anos de abandono por parte das sucessivas gestões municipais.
De acordo com os manifestantes, a situação da via é alarmante: buracos, poeira em tempos de seca e lama em períodos de chuva tornam o tráfego quase impossível, colocando em risco os usuários, inclusive pacientes que precisam se deslocar para a sede e estudantes. Em dias chuvosos, relatam, a Rua Paulo Rabelo se transforma em uma verdadeira lagoa, invadindo casas, afetando a mobilidade de moradores e colocando em risco especialmente crianças e idosos. Já nos períodos secos, a poeira toma conta, agravando problemas respiratórios e comprometendo a qualidade de vida da população. O problema não é novo, segundo os manifestantes. Durante os oito anos da gestão anterior, a pavimentação da Rua Paulo Rabelo foi prometida repetidamente, mas jamais saiu do papel. Agora, com a construção da nova sede do Colégio Estadual de Tempo Integral Rio Corrente, que deverá ser inaugurado ainda este ano, a situação se agravou. De acordo com relato dos moradores, a construção da nova Unidade Escolar, que estaria sendo executada sem que tivesse havido um planejamento em relação à drenagem ou contenção das águas das chuvas, tem causado danos à população. O aumento do volume de água das chuvas que escoa para a Rua Paulo Rabelo tem tornado a região ainda mais vulnerável. A falta de infraestrutura também afeta uma das principais rotas de acesso para diversas comunidades do interior do município através do Bairro Bel Vista, a Rua Mozondó.
O cenário é de abandono total e os moradores cobram uma resposta imediata da Prefeitura Municipal, ressaltando que protesto (bloqueio da via) foi mais do que um simples bloqueio, foi um grito de revolta de uma população que não aceita mais viver entre lama, poeira e promessas não cumpridas.
