Após um longo período de estiagem e temperaturas elevadas, a cidade de Brumado foi atingida na tarde de sábado (8) por um forte temporal que provocou alagamentos, queda de estruturas e prejuízos materiais em diversas áreas do município. A chuva intensa, acompanhada de ventos fortes, trovões e descargas elétricas, surpreendeu os moradores e comprometeu a infraestrutura urbana.
Imagens e relatos divulgados nas redes sociais mostram vias públicas inundadas em vários bairros da sede municipal, além da queda de árvores, postes de energia e placas publicitárias. Um dos pontos mais afetados foi a Avenida Lindolfo de Azevedo Brito, trecho urbano da BA-148 (Brumado/Livramento de Nossa Senhora), nas proximidades do Cemitério Jardim Santa Inês, onde estruturas metálicas foram derrubadas pela força do vento.
O grande volume de água em curto intervalo agravou os alagamentos e dificultou o escoamento, ampliando os transtornos para a população.
Diante da situação, o Governo Municipal, com o prefeito Fabrício Abrantes pessoalmente à frente das ações, mobilizou equipes da Defesa Civil, Limpeza Urbana, das Secretarias Municipais de Infraestrutura, Serviços Públicos e Desenvolvimento Urbano, de Desenvolvimento Social e Cidadania, além da Superintendência Municipal de Trânsito e Transportes e da prestadoras de serviços públicos – Neoenergia/Coelba e a Embasa (Empresa baiana de Águas e Saneamento) para atuar na assistência a famílias atingidas, remoção de destroços, restabelecimento do fornecimento de energia e normalização das áreas afetadas.
