Após a última avaliação quadrienal da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (Capes), divulgada em 2022, a Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia (Uesb) cumpre a missão e aprova o quinto curso de doutorado em apenas dois anos. Agora, a Universidade conta com o recém aprovado curso de Doutorado em Química.
Com 20 anos de Programa de Pós-Graduação em Química (PPGQUI), agora o curso passa a ser o primeiro doutorado em química do interior da Bahia, salienta o reitor da Uesb, professor Luís Otávio de Magalhães. “É mais uma conquista muito importante para a Uesb, para a Bahia e para todo o Norte-Nordeste. Será o primeiro curso de Doutorado na área de Química oferecido fora das capitais do Norte-Nordeste e o primeiro a ser oferecido por uma universidade estadual”, diz o reitor.
Conforme pontua o pró-reitor de Pesquisa, Pós-Graduação e Inovação (Proppi), professor Robério Rodrigues, com o apoio institucional da Uesb, como custeio, captação de recursos em editais, apoio técnico, planejamento estratégico, dentre outras ações, a aprovação “representa um importante vetor de redução de assimetrias. Para a comunidade regional será algo transformador ter um Doutorado no interior, possibilitando a realização de pesquisas de ponta e formação de massa crítica na região”, explica o pró-reitor.
As métricas da Capes para aprovação compreendem a experiência do corpo docente, produtividade científica, infraestrutura de pesquisa e ensino adequadas. A meta é que ainda em meados de 2025 abra a seleção para a primeira turma do curso. De acordo o coordenador do Programa, professor Baraquízio Braga, “o Programa já era pioneiro em acreditar que era possível fazer pesquisa científica de química com excelência no interior da Bahia e com a aprovação do doutorado isso foi confirmado”, diz o professor. Serão contemplados profissionais e pesquisadores das áreas de Química (licenciado, bacharel e industrial) e áreas afins, tais como Engenheira Química, Farmácia , Agronomia, dentre outros.
