Atendendo à recomendação do Ministério da Saúde, a Secretaria de Estado da Saúde da Bahia ampliou, desde a última terça-feira (20), a vacinação contra a gripe para toda a população. O imunizante é indicado para pessoas a partir de 6 meses de idade, é seguro e está disponível em todos os Postos de Saúde.
O objetivo desta ação é proteger a população contra os sintomas graves da Influenza e prevenir óbitos, especialmente durante o período de maior incidência de doenças respiratórias.
Desde o início da Campanha de Vacinação, em março, foram aplicadas 21,2 milhões de doses no público prioritário em todo o Brasil. Para garantir a disponibilidade do imunizante, o Ministério da Saúde distribuiu cerca de 60 milhões de doses, visando intensificar a imunização e alcançar uma cobertura de 90% contra a Influenza.
Segundo o Ministério da Saúde, o vírus da gripe apresenta mudanças frequentes, o que torna a vacinação anual essencial. A imunização pode reduzir em até 45% o número de hospitalizações por Pneumonias, em até 75% a mortalidade geral e, aproximadamente, em 50% as doenças relacionadas à Influenza.
Na Bahia, já foram aplicadas mais de 1,2 milhões de doses, colocando o Estado na quinta posição no ranking nacional de Imunizações contra a Gripe.
A Coordenadora do Programa Estadual de Imunizações da Diretoria de Vigilância Epidemiológica da Secretaria de Estado da Saúde da Bahia , Vânia Rebouças Barbosa Vanden Broucke, reforça a importância da vacinação na prevenção de doenças respiratórias, particularmente em relação ao vírus da Influenza, promovendo uma resposta imunológica que diminui a transmissão (do vírus) para a população. A Coordenadora destaca ainda a alta incidência da Influenza nos primeiros meses do ano, reafirmando a necessidade de ampliar a cobertura vacinal para bloquear a transmissão da doença. “De fevereiro a março, começamos a observar um aumento no número de casos de Rinovírus e Influenza. Quando nos vacinamos, conseguimos bloquear a transmissão desses vírus,” alerta Vânia Rebouças.
