Na manhã da sexta-feira (18), Vitória da Conquista viveu mais um momento de profunda devoção com a realização da tradicional Caminhada Penitencial, que chegou à sua 116ª edição. O evento religioso reuniu milhares de fiéis, que saíram da Catedral Metropolitana Nossa Senhora das Vitórias em direção ao monumento do Cristo Crucificado, obra do artista Mário Cravo, localizado no alto da Serra do Periperi.
A caminhada começou às 5h da manhã, em clima de silêncio, oração e reflexão, marcando a preparação dos católicos para a Semana Santa. O trajeto, conhecido por sua beleza simbólica e pela vista panorâmica da cidade, representa um verdadeiro ato de fé e penitência.
A edição deste ano contou com a presença de diversas autoridades municipais, entre elas a vereadora Cristiane – Cris Rocha – Santos Rocha Cestari (MDB), o vereador Antônio Ricardo – Babão – Pereira dos Santos (PSDB), o vereador Fernando – Jacaré Vasconcelos Silva (PT) e o vereador Hermínio Oliveira Neto (PP), que se juntaram aos milhares de fiéis na caminhada.
Durante o percurso, também foi lembrado um marco importante para a Igreja local: os 27 anos de Ordenação Presbiteral do Arcebispo Metropolitano Dom Vitor Agnaldo de Menezes, reforçando sua longa trajetória pastoral à frente da Arquidiocese de Vitória da Conquista.
A Caminhada Penitencial é considerada um dos momentos mais importantes do calendário religioso da cidade, mobilizando fiéis de todas as Paróquias, Movimentos e Pastorais, além de atrair visitantes de outros municípios. A cada ano, a manifestação de fé reforça a identidade religiosa da cidade e se consolida como Patrimônio Cultural Imaterial da população conquistense.
