O dia 8 de janeiro entrou para a história do Brasil como uma data que não pode ser esquecida. Foi nesse dia, que as Instituições da República sofreram um ataque violento, conduzido por grupos criminosos que se apresentavam como “patriotas”, mas que, incentivados por líderes incapazes de aceitar o jogo democrático, tentaram impor pela força aquilo que não conquistaram pelo voto.
A democracia, como já se afirmou, é frágil quando não é defendida. Por isso, recordar o 8 de janeiro não é apenas um exercício de memória, mas um compromisso com o futuro. É um alerta permanente para que o fascismo, como advertiu Bertolt Brecht, não volte a rondar nossas Praças, Quartéis, Parlamentos e Tribunais.
Transformar essa lembrança em aprendizado é fundamental. A defesa das Instituições não cabe apenas a governantes ou magistrados, mas a toda a sociedade. Cada cidadão tem o dever de proteger a democracia, seja pela participação política, pela fiscalização dos poderes ou pela rejeição a discursos de intolerância e violência.
Os que exaltam torturadores da ditadura militar, que defendem atos institucionais autoritários e que demonstram aversão aos direitos das minorias, de tempos em tempos ressurgem com o discurso de “salvador da pátria”. Reeditam velhos lemas fascistas – como “Tudo no Estado, nada fora do Estado, nada contra o Estado” – que em 1964 ganharam nova roupagem (“Deus, Pátria e Família”) e, mais recentemente, foram apropriados por extremistas que, com o uso de fake news, desinformação, pânico moral e violência política, buscaram e continuam buscando legitimar projetos autoritários, polarizar a sociedade e fragilizar os alicerces da democracia, atacando-a de dentro de suas próprias estruturas.
Esquecer o 8 de janeiro seria abrir espaço para que esses fantasmas retornem. Recordá-lo, ao contrário, é reafirmar que a democracia brasileira resistiu e continuará resistindo. O país não pode tolerar novas tentativas de subversão da ordem constitucional.

I do love the manner in which you have presented this situation plus it does indeed offer us a lot of fodder for consideration.
