“A utilização de plantas medicinais ou frutíferas, cultivadas nos quintais das famílias, tem apresentado grandes resultados preventivos e, em alguns casos, até curativo, de doenças como o gogo das galinhas, além de parasitas internos (verminoses) e parasitas externos (piolhos)”, atesta Dilmo Sousa, coordenador da equipe técnica da Associação de Pequenos Produtores de Jaboticaba (APPJ), entidade de ATC conveniada ao Pró-Semiárido.
Dilmo reforça que, para serem efetivas, as medidas precisam abranger todo o processo produtivo, desde a reprodução, incubação, eclosão, crescimento das aves, abate, produção de ração, até a exposição dos produtos. A vacinação pode ser feita de forma coletiva (via água nos bebedouros/pulverização) ou individual (injeção, gota ocular ou punctura na asa). “Além de possibilitar a proteção das aves, essa prática pressupõe a geração de produtos de qualidade e seguros aos consumidores”, acrescenta.
