Pesquisa revela que 34% dos estudantes adiaram a graduação no início de 2025 por causa de gastos com apostas; impacto é maior nas regiões Nordeste e Sudeste

Além de prejudicar a vida financeira e social de muitos brasileiros, as apostas em bets também têm afetado o ingresso e a permanência de estudantes na graduação. Dados da pesquisa “O impacto das bets na educação superior”, realizada pela Associação Brasileira de Mantenedoras de Ensino Superior (ABMES) e pela Educa Insights, apontam que 34% dos entrevistados adiou o curso no início de 2025 em função de despesas com apostas.
O levantamento mostra que os gastos em sites de apostas online são um dificultador adicional para o ingresso na graduação, principalmente para quem pretende estudar em instituições particulares. Entre os entrevistados, considerando que 34% afirmaram que precisariam ter interrompido as apostas para dar início aos estudos no primeiro semestre deste ano, o montante cai para 24% quando considerado o segundo semestre.
E os impactos dos gastos em apostas online vão além de prejudicar o ingresso no ensino superior, tendo em vista que a pesquisa aponta também que 14% dos alunos já matriculados em instituições particulares atrasaram as mensalidades. O percentual ainda engloba aqueles que trancaram o curso por conta dos gastos com bets. O índice é ainda maior nas classes B1 e B2 – e atinge a marca de 17%.
Quando comparados, os dados da pesquisa de setembro de 2024 revelam que houve um agravamento da situação – já que o percentual de jovens que apostam regularmente subiu de 42,9% para 52%. Outro aumento identificado entre aqueles que dizem comprometer parte da renda com as bets – que passou de 51,6% para 54,2%.
Também houve um salto de 11,4 pontos percentuais no número de pessoas que deixaram de começar uma graduação em função dos desembolsos com bets.
Recorte regional
A pesquisa da ABMES aliada à Educa Insights mostra ainda que as regiões Nordeste e Sudeste são as com a maior proporção de brasileiros que associam o adiamento da graduação à prática de apostas em bets – sendo 44% e 41%, respectivamente, considerando o primeiro semestre de 2025. Já para o segundo semestre, os índices são 32% e 27%, respectivamente.
Em contrapartida, os brasileiros das regiões Sul e Centro-Oeste apontam essa relação em menor escala, sendo 17% e 18% para o primeiro semestre de 2025 e 16% e 14% para o segundo semestre deste ano.
Em comparação com os dados de setembro de 2024, houve um aumento de 7,76% no Nordeste e de 9,39% no Sudeste, enquanto na Região Norte o percentual recuou 33,16% e na Centro-Oeste, 24,97%.

De acordo com o levantamento, a projeção nacional indica que, dos quase 2,9 milhões de potenciais ingressantes na educação superior da rede privada, cerca de 986 mil correm o risco de não efetivar a matrícula por conta do comprometimento financeiro com apostas online.
Comportamento financeiro
Os dados da pesquisa identificaram que 52% dos entrevistados apostam de forma regular. A frequência predominante é de uma a três vezes por semana.
Já em relação aos valores investidos, há uma variação conforme a classe social. Confira:
- Apostadores da classe A: destinam, em média, R$ 1.210 mensais;
- Apostadores das classes D e E: o valor médio é de R$ 421.
Metodologia
A pesquisa foi realizada entre os dias 20 e 24 de março de 2025 e ouviu 2.317 jovens de 18 a 35 anos de todas as regiões do país e de todas as classes sociais, com interesse em ingressar na educação superior privada.
