Você sabe o que significa a sigla IST? São as Infecções Sexualmente Transmissíveis, que podem ser causadas por vírus, bactérias e outros microrganismos. Essas infecções são transmitidas principalmente pelo contato sexual sem o uso de preservativo, mas também podem passar da mãe para o bebê durante a gestação, parto ou amamentação. Além disso, em casos mais raros, o contágio pode ocorrer pelo contato com secreções corporais contaminadas.
O atendimento, diagnóstico e tratamento de IST são gratuitos no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS), e tratar essas infecções é importante para se ter uma boa qualidade de vida e interromper a transmissão – é importante destacar que as IST podem causar complicações de saúde graves e até mesmo levar à morte.
Mesmo sem sintomas visíveis, é possível ter e transmitir uma IST. Por isso, cuidar da saúde e fazer exames após relações desprotegidas é tão importante.
● Sintomas
São variados e podem surgir feridas, corrimentos, verrugas genitais, dores ou até lesões em outras partes do corpo. Mas algumas IST, como sífilis e gonorreia, não mostram sinais de imediato e, se não tratadas a tempo, podem levar a complicações como infertilidade e câncer.
● Prevenção
Simples e eficaz: use camisinha em todas as relações sexuais – seja vaginal, anal ou oral. Ela protege não só contra IST, mas também contra o HIV e hepatites virais. Uma dica é que você pode pegar preservativos gratuitamente em qualquer unidade de saúde. Lembre-se de que a prevenção começa com informação. Observe seu corpo, busque orientação médica ao notar qualquer sinal diferente e, se necessário, avise a pessoa com quem você teve relações sexuais.
