Boletim da Fiocruz revela tendência de alta de doenças respiratórias entre a população de 0 a 19 anos

A síndrome respiratória aguda grave (SRAG) tem tendência de alta entre crianças e jovens. É isso que revela o boletim da Fiocruz sobre casos de SRAG publicado nesta semana. O documento considera a notificação dos casos feita pelos estados até o dia 11 de abril. Desde fevereiro, os diversos estados têm demonstrado tendência de alta, especialmente entre crianças de 0 a 11 anos.
Quase todo o país está classificado como epidêmico em decorrência do número de casos. O Distrito Federal, o Nordeste de Minas Gerais e o Noroeste do Mato Grosso do Sul foram as regiões que apresentaram maior incidência por 100 mil habitantes. “Nos menores de cinco anos esse cenário é um pouco mais acentuado. Porque, para essa faixa etária, ainda não tem vacina e, além disso, é uma faixa etária em que predomina a questão dos vírus respiratórios, sendo causa de mais de 35% dos casos de síndrome respiratória aguda”, analisa a infectologista Dra. Joana Darc.
Apesar de o boletim também apontar a tendência de platô (estabilização), a médica indica que o momento é de cautela, uma vez que entre maio e setembro há maior circulação de vírus respiratórios no Brasil, como a influenza e a própria Covid-19. “Mais de 80% das crianças que morreram nessa faixa etária foram por Covid e não por outros vírus respiratórios. A gente tem que continuar mantendo certa cautela e cuidado com relação aos nossos filhos para evitar as infecções.”, considera Dra. Joana.
Para o infectologista Hemerson Luz, é fundamental avançar na vacinação de crianças de 5 a 11 anos contra a Covid-19. “O aumento dos casos de SRAG em crianças relaciona-se com a baixa adesão à vacina pediátrica. “Muitos pais e responsáveis estão resistentes em vacinar seus filhos, tal fato associado com a volta às aulas presenciais, aumentaram a exposição das crianças ao SARS-CoV-2.”, considera o médico.
Já entre a população adulta, há uma tendência de queda nos registros de SRAG nas últimas seis semanas. Segundo a plataforma Our World in Data, 76,4% da população brasileira está com o esquema vacinal completo contra a Covid-19 até a segunda semana de abril.
