A Secretaria da Saúde da Bahia (Sesab) e a Secretaria Municipal de Saúde de Feira de Santana anunciaram na manhã desta sexta-feira (3), o primeiro caso suspeito de intoxicação por metanol no estado.Segundo informações da Sesab, o paciente é um homem de 56 anos, que deu entrada na Unidade de Pronto Atendimento (UPA) da Queimadinha, em Feira de Santana, na quinta-feira (2), e morreu na madrugada desta sexta.
A produção da TV Bahia apurou que o nome dele é Marcos Evandro Santana da Costa. A secretaria afirmou que amostras biológicas serão coletadas e encaminhadas para análise laboratorial, com resultado previsto em até sete dias, para confirmar ou descartar a hipótese de intoxicação.
O Brasil registrou 59 notificações relacionadas à intoxicação por metanol até a tarde de quinta-feira (2), segundo informou o ministro da Saúde Alexandre Padilha durante coletiva de imprensa. Dessas 59, 11 já têm a detecção laboratorial da presença do metanol.
Em relação aos estados dos registros, o ministro informou que:
53 são de São Paulo;
5 são de Pernambuco;
1 é do Distrito Federal.
A intoxicação por metanol a partir do consumo de bebidas alcoólicas batizadas — como gin, vodca e whisky — já provocou casos de internação grave, perda de visão e até mortes no estado de São Paulo nas últimas semanas.
O metanol é um álcool usado industrialmente em solventes e outros produtos químicos, é altamente perigoso quando ingerido. Inicialmente, ataca o fígado, que o transforma em substâncias tóxicas que comprometem a medula, o cérebro e o nervo óptico, podendo causar cegueira, coma e até morte. Também pode provocar insuficiência pulmonar e renal.
Na quinta-feira (2), a Sesab emitiu orientação às unidades de saúde da rede privada e às portas de urgência e emergência da rede pública para que estejam atentas a possíveis situações clínicas compatíveis com intoxicação por metanol e que quaisquer notificações sejam imediatamente comunicadas, possibilitando rápida investigação e adoção das medidas necessárias.
A secretaria informou que o caso será acompanhado pelas equipes de vigilância estaduais e municipais, em articulação com a Secretaria da Segurança Pública do Estado (SSP-BA).
Procon emite alerta de riscos
A Superintendência Municipal de Proteção e Defesa do Consumidor (PROCON ) emitiu, um alerta importante à população sobre os riscos envolvendo o consumo de bebidas alcoólicas adulteradas.
O superintendente do Procon em Feira de Santana, Maurício de Carvalho, reforçou a importância de os consumidores redobrarem os cuidados na hora da compra.
“É fundamental que a população fique atenta aos sinais que podem indicar adulteração. Entre eles estão preços muito abaixo do mercado, rótulos com erros de impressão, lacres violados, embalagens de aparência descuidada, ausência de nota fiscal, além de cheiro ou sabor diferentes do habitual”, destacou.
