Representante brasileiro diz que moeda comum não está em discussão

O Brics – sob a presidência rotativa do Brasil, desde 1º de janeiro – irá avançar no uso de moedas locais para realizar operações financeiras relacionadas ao comércio e investimentos realizados pelos países-membros do grupo. O objetivo é reduzir os custos de operações comerciais-financeiras das nações emergentes.
A confirmação foi dada pelo secretário de Assuntos Econômicos e Financeiros do Ministério das Relações Exteriores (MRE), Mauricio Lyrio, nesta sexta-feira (21), em conversa com jornalistas, em Brasília. O secretário é o negociador-chefe do Brasil no Brics, indicado para coordenar os trabalhos com a função de “sherpas” (palavra de origem tibetana usada para denominar os guias de alpinistas).
“É algo que já se desenvolve no Brics desde 2015 e nós continuamos a avançar, até porque o uso de moedas locais já é praxe no comércio bilateral entre membros do Brics. Vários membros já usam moedas locais no seu comércio bilateral, o que continuará no período da presidência brasileira”, declarou.
De acordo com Lyrio, o sistema de pagamentos em moedas locais está entre as prioridades das potências regionais neste ano que serão debatidas na próxima terça (25) e quarta-feira (26), entre os principais líderes-negociadores representantes das 11 nações integrantes do bloco.
São elas: Brasil, Rússia, Índia e China, África do Sul. Em janeiro de 2024, aderiram ao grupo como membros plenos: Egito, Emirados Árabes Unidos, Arábia Saudita, Etiópia e Irã.
O secretário do Itamaraty justificou que, neste momento, o Brics não discutirá a criação de uma moeda comum para o bloco. “Não há acordos sobre o tema e também porque é muito complexo este processo. São economias grandes. Esse não é um tema fácil de administrar e, obviamente, há outras maneiras de redução de custos de operação. Tem a ver com a lógica interna do Brics”.
O secretário Mauricio Lyrio afirmou que o posicionamento de não discutir uma moeda comum não está relacionado a declarações de autoridades internacionais. Recentemente, o novo presidente dos Estados Unidos (EUA), Donald Trump, ameaçou os países membros do bloco com tarifas de 100% sobre as importações deles, caso o grupo busque alternativa ao dólar nas negociações internacionais.
O diplomata não descartou a possibilidade de os chefes de Estado do Brics discutirem a adoção de uma moeda comum no futuro. “Nada impede que os presidentes discutam a possibilidade, em um horizonte mais distante.”
O sherpas brasileiro ressaltou ainda que o Brics nasceu com a vocação de reforçar o multilateralismo para solucionar problemas e reformar a governança global. “Reformar para que ela [governança global] se torne mais democrática, mais inclusiva, mais representativa nesses mesmos países.”
Prioridades
As reuniões da próxima semana servirão para apresentar aos sherpas do Brics as demais prioridades do Brasil no comando do grupo, além do uso de moedas locais para realizar operações financeiras.
Os temas serão alinhados para até a Cúpula de chefes de Estado do Brics, prevista para ocorrer nos dias 6 e 7 de julho, no Rio de Janeiro.
As cinco prioridades que serão levadas ao encontro de dois dias são: cooperação em saúde, financiamento de ações de combate à mudança do clima; comércio, investimento e finanças do Brics; governança da inteligência artificial; e desenvolvimento institucional do Brics.
O encontro será aberto na terça-feira pelo ministro das Relações Exteriores, Mauro Vieira, no Palácio do Itamaraty, na capital federal. Existe ainda a possibilidade de uma sessão especial com discurso do presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva aos participantes, no segundo dia do evento.
