Na última terça-feira (10), a Prefeitura Municipal de Brumado deu um passo importante na busca por soluções para a problemática dos animais em situação de rua na cidade. Em uma reunião realizada no gabinete da Prefeitura Municipal, o prefeito Fabrício Abrantes Pires de Souza Oliveira (Avante), representantes da Vigilância Epidemiológica, vinculada à Secretaria Municipal de Saúde, e da Organização Não Governamental, participaram de um encontro com o objetivo de traçar estratégias para a construção de um Plano de Trabalho voltado ao cuidado e controle de animais – especificamente cães e gatos – em situação de rua.
A situação dos animais de rua em Brumado tem sido marcada pela ausência de políticas públicas efetivas. Atualmente, o resgate, cuidado e atenção a esses animais é realizada por ONGs, especialmente a Auau, e Protetores Independentes, que atuam de forma voluntária e muitas vezes sem suporte adequado do município. Reconhecendo essa lacuna, prefeito Fabrício Abrantes (Avante) promoveu o encontro buscando estabelecer uma ponte entre o poder público e a sociedade civil organizada para fortalecer as ações existentes e criar novas estratégias de intervenção.
Durante a reunião, o prefeito Fabrício Abrantes (Avante) destacou a necessidade de garantir apoio de curto, médio e longo prazo às Entidades e cidadãos voluntários independentes envolvidos. Segundo apurou a reportagem do JS, no encontro, o prefeito reforçou que a integração de esforços é fundamental para ampliar as ações de acolhimento, cuidado e controle populacional de cães e gatos abandonados na cidade. Para o gestor, o poder público – principalmente este – e a sociedade não podem pensar somente na assistência aos animais em si, mas também na Saúde Pública e no bem-estar da população. Lembrou que animais de rua podem ser potenciais transmissores de doenças, além de impactar o meio ambiente onde convivem com as pessoas.
A proposta do Governo Municipal defendida na reunião é desenvolver políticas públicas que promovam a articulação entre o poder público, ONGs como a AuAU e Protetores Independentes, criando condições para que esses atores possam ampliar suas ações de atendimento, castração, acolhimento e conscientização da população. O objetivo é garantir um ambiente mais saudável para todos, humanos e animais, promovendo a sensibilização social e o estímulo à adoção responsável.
A iniciativa representa um avanço na gestão pública de Brumado, que busca construir uma política integrada de proteção animal, reconhecendo a importância da atuação conjunta entre o poder público e a sociedade civil. O próximo passo será a elaboração de um Plano de Trabalho detalhado de ações, com investimentos e cronogramas, visando transformar a realidade dos cães e gatos de rua na cidade e promover uma convivência mais harmoniosa nos espaços públicos onde humanos e animais estão inseridos.
